Hey guys, i have this problem with my car where sometimes it will loose all power in the car. Like ill be driving and nothing will happen when i push down the accelerator. Supposedly its a common problem. I just push down the accelerator more and the car keeps going.
However today i stopped behind another car waiting to go around the roundabout and the car just died. I diddnt need to have the clutch down cause its an auto. And all day long i could sort of hear the car struggling to stay running, usually when ive stopped at a light or something.
Any ideas on the problem? Car is a 96 Magna TE.
have you recently disconected the battery? or the air sensor?

No. I had a service maybe a month ago, but not sure if they would have touched either of those.
oh kk, i was gona say it could be a dodgy battery or the air sensor in unpluged. But now im unsure mate

I'm with you. stuffed fuel pump mabey. My old TE sat around for a while so the fuel pump got all clogged up. so when I was driving it used to stall everynow and again till I got it all cleaned out.

blocked fuel filter gets my vote..not enough presure from the pump to push the fuel through when at low revs or maybe a split diaphragm in the fuel pump

happened to me a while ago... it gets worse, very simple fix though
unplug the ecu completely then plug back in
should be fine after that

Idol speed motor/module.
When mine went in the TF i was sitting atop a hill and it just cut out. When it did it took brakes and steering with it and the handbrake wouldn't hold the weight. Dropped it into park to start the engine to get brakes back but the ISM was already mince.
I had to shift manually and balance the revs in netrual to stop it dropping out.
That was alot more serious than you described though.
Deffinatley worth getting looked at, its a cheap part to replace.

i agree
my old car was a manual and use to pull up a a set of lights put the clutch in and it would stall all it needed was cleaning the injectors and problem went away
