Hey guys,

my dads TF has decided to start to blow a bit of smoke on start up or when you start to take off or leave it idleing for a bit. the smoke is sometimes bule and other times black. he used to use GTX 3 and then i talked him into using Penrite. it was a few thousand k'm over. so i changed the oil back to GTX 3 (thats what he wanted to do) and i cleaned the PVC valve(was full of crap) and aslo the throttle body(was full of crap as well)

any ideaswhy its still doing it

btw its a 1998 TF Exec V6 auto with 120,000 on the clock

Sounds the same as the old 2nd-gen valve stem seal problem?

Blue smoke - oil

Black smoke - running rich

So there's possible two problems.

Running rich could be a faulty afm/map sensor, vacuum leak, faulty O2 sensor etc etc

Blue smoke - seems there is oil leaking into the cylinder, especially since its at start up, after long idle, or on take off....oil builds up, you accellerate, it burns - blue smoke.
