Hey Everyone,

I have a bit of a question for anyone that can answer.

Last night i had the joy of wrecking my auto transmission, (while trying to rip a fully sik skid haha  ). Its completly wrecked, so hopefully i will be getting a new one in this week. Anyway, my question is...

Is there a difference between a normal 4 speed auto and a 4 speed tippy? or is the tip tronic part just a computer bit that plugs into the normal 4 speed auto? Coz i dont really wanna lose my tip tronic bit.

If there is two different types of transmissions, will a non-tippy one fit?

Also, if anyone has done a change over have you got any advice?

Thanks Guys

get the exact same one as you have already in your car

no problems with electonics or computers

you can keep all the gearboxes you wreck as spare parts

HaHa, well i had just revved the car up in neautral, dropped it into 1st, and smoked em up'. Then i turned a corner, and as the car changed down gears. i hear a massive snap and heaps of grinding. I get out and have a look and the road is covered in transmission fluid.

So i guess no one knows about my question, im just going to put in a second hand standard auto, whether or not my tip tronic plugs into that ill just wait and see. If it doesnt i will have a Magna Sports with a standard transmission, haha,

Live and learn fella.

I wouldnt reccomend putting something else in apart from what was already there. If its a normal 4speed auto stay with that if you have a tiptronic stay with that. Dont put something else in cause you may find it will not work correctly. Or just put a 5speed manual in it.

Its going to be an expensive lesson for you. Good luck.

Lol you spend all that money making your car look nice and then you do something stupid like that???

Just leave it in 1st and rip the handbrake up. wont do as much damage.
well i guess you'll know that next time.

Yeah thats my question, is there a 4 speed tip tronic auto and a 4 speed auto, or are they the same thing with a tippy add on.

I have a tip tronic in it now, but i can get a normal auto for cheap.

You may find it will fit but not work correctly. Not sure if anyone has done it. I think you will create more headaches for yourself puting in something different.

pffft

FWD magnas suck balls then dont they

i have done this a few times in the ye olde AWD 5krpm N-D dump and my trans is a good as they get, she's a beauty.... even 450nm didnt worry it one lil bit when it was s/c'd

must be internally very different.....

i got to say i have done this exact thing that you have in several auto cars and never dont a trans.... although i have killed many diffs lol

are you sure it's dead?? maybe the drain plug bolt fell out and out goes the fluid.... get fluid in there and it will most likley still go just fine

yeah, fluid was like coming straight out the side of the casing, and it couldnt get in gear, and when it finally did it grinded like someone had shoved a spanner inside the transmission.
