View Full Version : Rear Ride Height

Just a quick question. I've had the Verada lowered with King's superlows on the front and lows on the back. When you look at the car side on, it doesnt seem to sit balanced ( the rear seems higher). I spoke with the place that lowered it about putting superlows on the back but they said they couldn't put them on. Is this true? If so, what other ways could I get the car to sit lower in the rear???? (No I'm not cutting the springs). Would resetting the rear springs work or is this a no-no??
Cheers for any advice!

Ask them "why" they cannot be fitted?

They rang kings and the said that they dont make superlows for the rear because it would drop it way too far!.

Im sure there are other companys who make other springs.

I was going to do the same thing but i was told
that it will make the car not handle as good as it should.
It will through out the way it corners.
Have you ever driven in a car that has back shocks that
are f***ed? That was my car till not long ago and its like the
car dose not want to turn nice. They say its not safe like that.:)
Hmmm...interesting, maybe it needs to settle?
I'll load you up a shot of omars KJ (hope he doesnt mind) which is sitting on Pedders Superlows front and Pedders lows rear (99% sure thats the right way round), his sits perfectly flat, and looks fantastic. Maybe invest in some pedders lows for the rear instead? Nobody likes a door wedge setup.

I've been told that Kings don't make super low rears. Perhaps thats why they cant fit them.

Correct - Kings don't make superlows for the rear, apparently Lovells do, and I don't know about pedders.
I've heard the reason kings don't make superlows for the rear is because the springs would be too short and would not be securely held within the standard strut. I've also heard that lovells superlows are the same height as the lows (when you compare the springs side by side, uninstalled), but are a softer spring and hence sit lower when installed.
Softer springs = bad for handling, but hey - if you want your car low, and you don't want to fork out for coilovers, then handling is going to suffer, thats the game we play.

i have the same problem and i am solving it by going back to lows in the front (i didn't install the superlows in the front the previous owner did), but that is also to get some suspension travel back.

Yeah, the rule of thumb I've gathered after oh-so-many suspension threads here on AMC is that King Lows lower approximately 45mm and Lovell Superlows lower approximately 50mm. So you wouldn't gain much by moving to the Lovells (except for a wankier name).
Putting Lows in the front isn't a bad idea - Lows are supposed to give better handling than Superlows, plus it'll sit exactly even all around. If you just want the back to be dumped, I'd probably look at getting the rear springs compressed.

I had Lovell superlows on my TJ. They were defiantely lower than the Kings lows I have in now, but the ride was far more, umm, squishy. I feel much safer with the Kings in than the Lovells.
