Hey all, this question may have a completely obvious answer, but figured I would ask just in case.

My KF needs a bit of a power-steering fluid top up but I dont have any power-steering fluid. I do on the other hand have an unopened bottle of "TQM-ST Automatic Transmission Fluid".
I know that in some cars you can use ATF for both of them, whats the deal with the mitsi trans on the third gens?

If I can use the ATF for a bit of a top up that would be great. If not, I guess I shall have to buy a bottle when I get paid. :)

Thanks.

On the bottle of the genuine mitsu SP3 fluid it states in bold type DO NOT USE IN POWER STEERING SYSTEMS.

You can use dexron stuff though for the power steering, go to a servo and grab some if you are desparate.

Cool.
Thanks for that.

On closer inspection that's true for my bottle of stuff too.
"...meet the performance requirements of the Mitsubishi SP-2/2M and 3 specification..."

and

"NOT recommended for power steering systems or rear wheel drive cars"
