Hi folks.

Bit of an issue with my KJ verada, the rear speakers have this crackling/staticky/popping issue. It seems to get worse in hot weather, front speakers are not affected.

Any idea what the problem might be? Is this a known issue or am I just 'lucky'?

could be anything from a blown speaker to faulty/damaged wiring

its odd for both of the rears to be having the same problem though..

try

-checking the connections on the speakers itself. u should be able to see the wires connect from inside the boot.
-test the connections with another speaker, see if it still makes the noise.

if its still doing it with another speaker, it could be a cut in the wires somewhere along the car, or a faulty head unit.

in either case, it sounds to me like you have a great excuse to buy a head unit and rear speakers

Heh, seems that way. Ta, I'll check all the stuff. I'm half hoping it's a cheap fix like a loose wire, but also half hoping I'll be 'forced' to get the new equipment.:D

Yeah even a pair of cheap 6x9s sound pretty good. I paid $79 or $89 for my JBL 6x9s and they sound great, and I'm amazed by the front stock splits considering they're stock!
