Hi guys,
Anyone have any ideas on this problem? First start with a cold engine (2.6) the auto slips when moving off after selecting "drive" - however if I run through the selector, reverse to 1st then back to drive, all is fine. I have changed the fluid and the filter, no nasty stuff in the oil pan. Fluid level is correct.
I'm thinking that it may be the pump, and that this is also related to the common fault of vibration when idling in drive - move it to neutral or reverse and the vibration goes. Take off and the vibration smooths out after about 1600rpm. Also on occasions can give a real thump when changing down to 2nd using the kickdown.
I want to replace the rear roll stopper, but no way I can get to the through bolt without removing the inlet manifold, so that is temporarily on the back burner. Or until I can find someone with a pet octopus!
Thanks for your input

My idle got alot better once my idle speed was corrected, torque convertor and pcv valves, throttle body gunk, tps gunk all cause the TR's to run filthy.
As for your auto, the Tps could be an issue, even the ECU/TCU, are their any other symptons?
When you start and put the car into reverse is there a slight jolt?
Any delayed gear changing?
Any rev outs or noises? Does your over-drive button work?
The autos are horrible and its one of the main problems with all gens of mitsubishis, the manuals are abit better.
An auto specialist should be able to pinpoint the problem at their workshop.

do a torque converter stall test
it may need a torque converter
then the tcu diagnostics
end page 1 then page 2

Hmmmm.......
So Im guessing that puts me in the busted torque converter group. 2000rpm is a lil low. So is torque convertor being faulty a common cause of the rough idle?? How much would one be looking at paying for fixing?

time to go to an automatic shop and get their opinion
rough idle can be anything
electrical or fuel related

A few further notes - have done a stall test, 1900rpm.
Looks like a good clean of the throttle body etc and adjustment of the TPS will be next on the agenda, just need a couple of weeks to get another car out of the garage first.
If the stall test does not improve, may be trade in time! While I have the throttle body off at least I will get the rear roll stopper done!
Thanks for all your help
