i have an 89 tp magna which likes to leak a heap of steering fluid all over my engine especially when the steering is locked.

firstly the section of hose with the yellow arrow is striated, is this a normal section? as it looks like it has been spliced in and the join is where the leak is.

and is it possible just to replace the section of hose yourself as im wondering if i could get the right seal if it is a high pressure hose. im pretty sure its the hose which goes from the pump to the column so correct me if i am wrong (its the hose with the rag on it.

finally is there any decent glue or something that coud patch it as i just need it to stop spraying onto my fan belt in the meantime

cheers for any help

yes the straight part looks normal. well it's the same in my tp.
yes u could fix it yourself but that would be more taking it off and going to a place like enzed and get them to make another cos im sure you don't have the tools to make the high pressure fittings and such.
Or if you need to do it on the cheap go to the wreckers and pull one of the lowest klm tp you can find.
as for something to stop the leak go to supercheap im sure they have something to block radiator holes or similar.
Or tie a rag around the leak really tight (old school fix).
That all i could think of for now:D

:stoopid: :lurk:

that hose is the high pressure feed off the pump

enzed and hose making companies are too expensive
get the hoses from the wreckers

watch out for the small O rings at the ends of the pipes ( dont loose them )
and hand start the threads into the steering box and pump 17 MM nut at the steering

ps that engine bay is to clean fo a first gen lol
