i know you can do piggy back computers.. that do this..

but me being the cheap ****, give anything a go type.. has anyone simply marked the dizzy.. pulled it out.. machined the holes for the dizzy housing and put it back in, and adjusted a little more timing into her? running 9.1 CR and always running 98 RON fuel, i'm sure it would be safe to run a couple more degree's timing into her!

thoughts?

Just remove the lower bolt and loosen the top one or is it the other way around. Might work i think i recall trying it when i had my verada but i dont think it made any difference. Worth a shot post the results. I think it has been done by someone else on here but i dont think it worked either.

thats what i was thinking about the ecu.. self adjusting.. can anyone confirm this? going off 03tl's response it seems not.. so the ecu will adjust itself and run they ghey stock timing?

Thats my understanding also - but I don't know for sure, just what I've heard.

but perhaps advancing the timing will allow it to self adjust and advance the timing more if it wants to, since its not pinging???

moving the dissy will only move the spark timing to the leads...
the crank sensor also needs to be moved...which can not be done..

the only way to change the timing is to fit a greedy type system or trick the ecu.
it has been done on here before but most members did not approve the idea.

Yep. Spark timing is determined by the crank angle sensor. You advance or retard the signal with a piggyback computer. Its actually not that complicated to do, but doing it properly (rather than just RPM based) you need to take into account intake air temp etc. At least 3D mapping is sensible.
