View Full Version : Noisy Coil Overs
Got Coil Overs in my car and in the last month or so have started to be a little clunky over bumps, anyone else had that problem? the car isn't much lower than standard height and is the front ones that make most if not ll of the noise.
any help would be good.

Sounds like they're leaking. Rebuild in order - possibly $300 per strut.
don't think they are leaking, i check that fairly often. i assume if they were leaking the shock would stop working slowly

my rear ones do that a bit and they have just been rebuilt. the reconditioners told me its because its too stiff. so i softened i up and went for a drive and it was gone..
but i like it hard so i just turn the stereo up a lil and i don't hear it.
mine are anything but soft, even when turned all the way to soft they are still firm,

They're coilovers, what do you expect? If they aren't leaking, then it's probably normal.

was more talking about softening them up its more going from hard to harder no such thing as soft.
and if you going to help, then help, if you going to say stupid stuff do it somewhere else.

I tried to help you and you didn't like my suggestion. If the strut is leaking it'll make a slight clocking sound when going over bumps. You said the coilovers are firm even on the soft setting - They're coilovers. Coilovers are made for the racetrack, not the street.
If you're concerned about it, I'd take it to a suspension specialist.
