I have heard the 6g74 needs a bit of grinding to fit around the awd

Not yet willing to lift the engine clear of the car to check this, does anyone know how difficult it is to take to an exchange engine with a grinder to make it match up to the awd engine bay?

far as i know there is no differance between the engine blocks. a 6g74 is a 6g74

AndrewD's mechanic had to take to the block with a grinder for a few hours, as did another member, So Im guessing there is a difference.

thanks, sounds like a fairly simple task with a grinder then.

Looks like we will be using the existing awd block for the bottom end build-up. After discussing with RPW, it seems less risky to use the original block which is low mileage anyway. Too many unknowns otherwise.

I'm going straight into stage 3 mods in January. It makes sense to drop the forgies in while the whole lot is pulled apart, or face duplication of labour to take off the stage 2 peripherals to do further modifications.

RPW will put in oversize CP pistons, pins, stronger big end bolts and resize the rods and crank.

The peripherals include the E8 and sensors, CAI, shortie extractors, 390cc injectors, 163l/hr pump and oil catch can.

At 7 to 8 psi with agressive tuning this should be good for at least 400 (safe) hp at the flywheel. Torque will be enormous. I understand the TT magna makes something like 500ft-lb (680nM) at 7 psi The heads, valves and cams remain stock for now.

Will be one of the quickest s/c awd magnas for as long as the INVECS 5 speed auto lasts.......

BTW the RPW magna ran better than 11.8 (with a best of something like 11.6 I think) on the weekend at only 14 psi of boost. Not bad for a fwd magna.

is this what you mean?

Scroll right down the end, where they have to grind a bit off the block to allow it to fit into the AWD stealth/3000GT (this is the DOHC 3.5L swap for a 2nd gen sorta thing)

From that site they reckon a 6G74 can be stroked out to 4.1l. That I would like to see.
