hey guys just wondering if a set of wheels that were fitted to an hsv will fit onto a 2nd gen?

Standard 2nd gen specs are 14x6 or 15x6 wheels with about a +40 offset. So if you got wheels that are close to +40 offset but are 1 inch wider, that 1 inch goes towards the struts because the offsets are the same, so it might rub or sit up against the suspension.

But if the PCD of commodore wheels is 5x120 thats a whole different can of worms.
