They don't, he must mean 4th.

Last time I looked it went P > R > N > D > 3 > 2 > L

4th gear is overdrive

the output speed is greater than the input speed!

I was quoted $1600 for my auto to be "fully reconditioned fitted to your car"

$1600 for a complete transmittion recondition? how much is it for a clutch replacement? Someone told me it would cost about $1400, thought that was a bit steep.

You might pay $1400 with a 4X4 due to the shear size/weight of the gearbox, but not on a Magna!

Having said that, Ive never paid anyone to change a clutch...

wow $1600. I'd have gone the manual way.

Out of curiosity anyone around here roll in a manual Verada?

Hmm I had the chance to do a manual conversion but decided against it once we realised my Verada's auto transmission was fine. Would you guys think it adds to the car's value? Would be pretty unique.

no it would not

forgetting AMC loonies ;)

who in their right mind would buy a manual verada? we all know it's a luxury car and didnt come manual fron factory they'd suss out it was modified, then probably dig further and find out that the car was totalled and NO SALE!

a stock standard magna/verada will appeal to far far more buyers than a modified one... just look on carsales and here 3 supercharged magnas all a great price and all fantastic cars, for sale for the same price as an unmodified model of same km and age, yet no takers... and it's been months now and they are still for sale
