Preceda topped a few categories on latest Wheels test of 18" tyres... I was going to buy them at $260 a piece but ended up going for Falken Azenis ST115 because the Precedas were out of stock for a week and half in Australia.
i'd go for the goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3

i still cant believe what some people pay for tyres!
I mean I am not rich, probably like most of the users here but paying $1000 for a set of tyres to me is ridiculous. I could almost pay for a stage one cam set up for that.
I am a firm beleiver that if you look around enough you can find a nice tyre that is pretty cheap and my experience with cheaper tyres is good. The set I have now are the best tyres I have ever had for how they feel on the road and they are Astra 225/50/R16 with a load rating of 96. They have a very aggressive tyre pattern, are fairly low profile for 16" and feel fantastic. They only cost $135 a pop.

Can't remember Killer, may have been mid '03... they showed me at the shop. I remember they also did a test on 205/65 tyres the month before that.
Mbquart: The simple matter is, good tyres cost a lot of money when you go above mainstream sizes. We are lucky now that a lot of cars are coming out standard with 17" tyres; 4-5 years ago you would probably pay 50-100% more than we do now for 17" tyres.
I used to enjoy paying $105 for 205/65s and get good, long wearing tyres, but they were terrible when you want to drive hard. I'm just glad I don't have to buy 19" tyres like Booya ehehe..

Ahh, yee. Remember that one. I thought there was another, new one.
Some people buy Mercs, some people don't. Same with tyres. Sort of.
What???? You mean Bridge RE 92 is not a good tyre???? And my local tyre dude who knows everything said it's the best tyre, never wears out.
Geeessshhhh.......
;)

Killer forget 'RE92' is 1 from worst crap U can get (Had on 626).It is true they wears slowly @ 90K U must change them, But are noisy like hell, not so good on wet. Go for yokohama (30-40K gone), falken or any 'silica'

Heh - I was being utterly a-holely sarcastic saying that. Haven't driven worse rubber than 92's since the wooden wheel.
And I agree with your choices.

I got brand new RE92's with my car when i bought it almost a year ago and i think there one of the best tyres i've had. They've still got heaps of tread, they grip extremely well in the wet (even with the massive body roll :D ), there just reluctant to let go and never squeal.
I agree that they are quite noisy on freeways though.

Well, mine were probably 30,000 old and weren't legal. They spun at 100kph in the wet and I've aquaplaned in them. I guess being not legal doesn't help. Mind you, it was only the thread on the edges that was dodgy. I don't like them but apparently they're the pick of the OEM tyres according to Wheels mag. Mine didn't get fitted properly so copped uneven wear at the 7,000 mark. Probably removed 5-7 thousand from they're life. Doesn't matter now
