View Full Version : Indicator Question (1-piece parabolics)
Has anyone on these forums ever moded the indicator section on a set of 1-piece parabolics to remove the orange reflector portion of the indicator?
I'm wanting to get the whole "clear" (or tinted) indicator look going by just having the orange globe but was just wondering if anyone has done this before with their parabolics?
All going well I should recieve and have my parabolics installed sometime in the next week/week and a half - thanks bogus!
cheers.

I've done it with my regular indicator but not with the one piece parabolics.
Blake,
What was involved exactly? ... I gather you have to start by removing the globe/plug etc of course.
Didyou simply break all the orange stuff and pull it out or was there away you could pull it all out more easily without breaking stuff?

I basically got a small hacksore blade and cut around the bulb holder, pulled it out and removed the orange cover and glued it all back. veyr fiddly but looks much better

Even if you remove the reflector and put an orange bulb in it'll still look orange. You would need to buy the expensive Phillips Silvervision globes to get rid of the egg yolk look.

Thats what i put in, they are basically yellow bulbs chromed so they look silver / clear. Work well but at 20 bucks a pop not a cheap option really for a single bulb lol.

The philips bulbs are a Dichroic and are called 'Diadiems'.
The orange cover over the bulb in the two piece headlamps can be removed by pushing in the tabs around the corner of the indicator, and the orange cover unscrews from the back.
HOWEVER - the orange cover also incorporates a fresnel lens that focusses the light towards other drivers and the road. This is done to get acceptable brightness levels close to the headlights. This is not necesary when the indicators are mounted on the bumpers.
If you remove the orange fresnel cover, you remove your ADR approval, and in doing so, you give the insurance company an out to paying a claim.
And we all know how nice insurance companies are at handing out money if they can get out of it!
