View Full Version : KH Verada Driving light problem
Hi all,
I have a little problem that Iam pulling my hair out over .
I am trying to put a set of extra driving lights on the front of my Verada wagon and the issue is that I can't figure out where to get the signal from the steering column for the trigger on my relay. I have the manual and I think that I am doing it right but it doesnt work.
Can someone please help me because I really dont want to take it to a electrician as I have done heaps of driving light installations in the past without problems.
Thanks in advance
Jason

Why do you need the trigger to come from the steering column???,just find the high beam wire under the bonnet by working your wayback from the socket on the globe and splice or scotch lock (bloody horrible things!!!) into that and run to your relay as the trigger,to test your connection, just run straight 12 volt positive to the 85 term (trigger) and it should power up the lights every time,if it doesnt, youve got other problems with your wiring my friend,or a blown fuse ;)

If the extra lights are powerful wouldn't the extra load burn out the high beam relay?
I would go with a seperate switch/relay OR upgrade the existing relay and do whats said above :).

you missunderstood i think M4DDOG,
I am only refering to running the high beam wire as a "trigger" for the seperate relay (they only need milliamps to trigger).not using the original circuit to run the lights, they use the high beam wire because you put a switch inline and when you have your highbeam on and dip your lights, the extra set will go off aswell, same as when you flip them up,keeps everything legal and makes sure you dont have to flick 2 seperate switches when you encounter traffic thats all
I have a late model KH and its a nightmare to get the fuse box out from the engine bay to get in behind it otherwise I would of done it this way. I dont want to unplug everything because then I would reset the factory radio and I dont have the security code and coming this close to Xmas I really dont want the hassle of trying to get it.
