Sorry about the double post but I think I will have more luck in here.

Hi all,

I have a little problem that Iam pulling my hair out over .

I am trying to put a set of extra driving lights on the front of my Verada wagon and the issue is that I can't figure out where to get the signal from the steering column for the trigger on my relay. I have the manual and I think that I am doing it right but it doesnt work.

Can someone please help me because I really dont want to take it to a electrician as I have done heaps of driving light installations in the past without problems.

Thanks in advance

Jason

The easiest way is to use the highbeam wire at the headlights. You need to break it with a switch mounted in the cabin to be legal though (driving lights need to be able to be isolated, and also only work with your highbeams).

IIRC headlights are earth return.

Aha so the easiest way would be to tap into the high beam at the headlight and run the 12 volts back through the relay and on to a switch in the cabin and then to ground.

P.S I havnt forgoten to take a picture of my HID's spread pattern for you.

if they are factory mitsu foggies i wouldnt tap into the highbeams!

what use are fog lights going to be when that one time when you need to use them so you turn your highbeams on and BAM whiteout you cant see anything cos the highbeams have lit up all the fog

tap into the parkers

if they were driving lights that a different story..

go to supercheap and pick up a driving light kit, it comes with everything you need , thats what i used for my fog lights , but its a driving ling kit so that would be your best bet

Tell me about it.

I have got the kit from Supercrap. Im pretty sure I can get it right now.

See if I can explain it for others I dont have a relay here so I may get the pins wrong.

I will take the positive from the 30 Pin (battery) and run it into the 87 pin (solenoid in relay) then out the 86 and into the switch on the dash. Out of the switch into the steering column switch which will then go to ground when the high beams are on.

Basically what has mucked me up I think is the colours of the wires on the steering column and thinking that it was positive switching where as it is really negative switching
