So I did a little research on springs and shocks. Mainly springs to lower the car. Obviously "King Springs" are a popular one with AMC (East) and after talking to them they offered high $400 to supply and fit (better than Mitsu offer of low $600) but then said go to your local supplier as they will do you a better deal.

Obviously the talk I got from Pedders was poo pooing King and they offered a a $570 for lows or an overall sport kit (with shocks) for $1600. Well I will stay away from that. But obviously Kings are the lower end for price and says Pedders, quality.

Lovells are hard to find around here, I think, only one supplier out Dalby and at a Pedders price. Whiteline was very helpful and their receptionist (I think it was anyway) was exceptionally so, and very knowledgeable. Insisted that they had only done minor works on AWD and therefore were not willing to offer equipment they were not sure of. Springs and swaybars only at the moment. She was unsure of castor kits and camber kits.

So what is this email doing here? Well its just saying that if you can do the job yourself (see other emails to learn this) then the job of lowering is quite cheap. Springs from King will cost around $250 from Lovell or Pedders $340, Whiteline $370. But if you want a profesh job go for $500-$600.

Hmm.. So many descisions but after seeing TR-IFFICS chop job of my car it drives me towards spending the money.

I mentioned in another post that The Mag Wheel and Tyre centre here in
Adelaide has recently lowered a red tl vr awd. Its been lowered 1.5" and fitted with 18" wheels (looks similar to TJII VRX wheels but the spokes are
flared out more at the rim) and the owner of MWTC said there were no problems.

You could give them a call and ask them whats involved but dont say you
are from interstate.

red tl vr awd

what type of car?

A red 2004 TL Magna VR AWD. I presume there's little difference between
the TJ Sports AWD and the TL VR AWD in terms of suspension setup etc.

the MWTC website is http://www.mwtc.com.au/index.shtml. They
haven't put up the latest car of the month pics yet which I presume would
be the TL VR AWD.

Take everything pedders says with a pinch of salt

Guess it depends on the branch. I've been going to Pedders at Liverpool (Sydney) and only received (good) quality service.
Richard does not lower the cars illegally low. He spent plenty of his own time looking for bangs and rattles in the car after susp works. His wheel balancing job is so far the first time in 13 years when I got it done properly. And trust me - been to Uncle Bobs, you name it, and they have always just stuffed around big time. So, yeps, depends on the branch.
BTW - I love my Pedders Sports Ryder package! :)

Now I'm not saying I agree with everything on this site or even if it's true and I agree not everyone at pedders whould be like this but have a read any way.
