Yo all, have the KS Verada, after tweeters for the A Pillar, anybody have some pics and has anybody put any in as I would like to know what they sound like.
I take it I would need a crossover as I would be looking at changing the door speakers as well.
Are car crossovers powered (12V) or are they just as per normal home crossovers. The so called tweeters in the dash sound like s**t as I've been told in the KS the 4" speakers in the dash are tweeters. If so do they already have a crossover on them or just wired parallel with the door speakers. Would they sound more like tweeters then full range if I ran an amp as this is how I bought the car.
The present sound is pretty hollow, would that be due to the standard speakers, the previous owner put in a JVC H/U with 50x4 (I know this isn't a true rating).
I'm looking at Jaycar gear, any suggestions.
Regards
Michael

so you want the full splits? unless you're getting individual parts, and spending up, then everyday splits with come with the woofer, the tweeter, and the crossover...

dont amp the stock speakers, no doubt theyre like 30W or something stupid, you will blow them, plus they will just sound nasty!

ah good boy :) heres a shopping list for you:
Jaycar 4x100W RMS amp
Jaycar 6.5" Kevlar splits
(any name brand) 6x9s for the rear (i'm assuming the KS had 6x9s up the back, someone correct me if i'm wrong :)
should make for a very nice upgrade :) will have to search the forums (or wait for a 2nd gen owner to post) regarding where to place the tweeter (tweeter will be 1", and on the dash aint the best place to put them)
hope that helps somewhat :)

Thanks for that, I was wanting to use components that didn't protrude to keep everything looking stock.
What I have at the moment is a 10" JBL GT3 sub that needs an enclosure and an amp, a JVC H/U that I want to replace with an MP3 player.
This is what is was looking at:
As the sub is omni directional I don't really need big bass up front so I'm looing at clarity up front by using 4 or 5" splits (if I can get them), either 6" or 6x9" co-axial up the back (no splits up back as you have them in the front plus they get drowned out anyway from the bass in the boot.
I would then have the sub in the boot.
I was looking at either 2 jaycar amps (a 4 x 100 for the speakers and a 2 x 50 bridged for the sub as it is only rated at 200W with a 1600W peak) or a rockford fosgate 5 channel or a monoblock for the sub, the only thing with a mono block they are usually rated fairly high.
Your thoughts all.
Cheers
Michael

Interesting dude. I would definate change your sub amp to the 2x 150WRMS, headroom is a great thing and considering you are thinking of the 4x 100WRMS for speakers...
GT3 will handle 500WRMS so long as it is the correct cabinet and you are sensible.
Your on the write track if you want it stockish looking on a budget. 4inch componets ( woofer / xover / tweeter )for the front and 6inch for the rears will be enough. If you have a bigger budget I know Marty has done some stealth installs on 1st and 2nd gen mounting 6.5inch components in the doors and it look totally stock.

Marty is from FHRX studios and Mr Charismaless is a ***** who pimps them.
I reckon if you look around you can get infinity 6.5" splits for the same price as jaycar's.

Ha just because your dad hates you :gtfo:
Very sorry for promoting someone who does great work and helps people out from everywhere. If you care to read other posts, stores that I recommend in NSW and QLD are short because I hate crap work and I have never seen work from anyone else...
Read the first bit as well, he wants to look stock, how do you propose he mount though 6.5inch splits in his dash? Please if you know anyone else who does ( and you have seen ) stealth door installs for an older Magna, please post it up :D

i just installed a set of 6.5" focal splits into a TR /magna, bought some Verada door trims from a wreckers at $14 a side. Cut out an mdf baffle for the woofer.and mounted the tweeter in the kicks.
Also mounted the amp (jaycar 4 x 100w) in the boot and the sub apline type s in a sealed box.
All up cost under $1000 not including headunit. With sound deadening for boot, front doors and parcel shelf.
Tweeter in the kicks is very stealthy and avoids the bright / harsh reflections which you usually get from mounting tweeters near glass. Avoids seperation and frequency steerting and makes for tighter imaging,
I would save up some money and get a proper pair of splits, will sound much better than using stock speakers and u don't have to play around with different crossovers. !" tweets are easy to mount
In terms of the sub being omni directional, you will findthat the more midbass you can get up front the better. Resonances from the boot will give away a subs position and the fact that you can still distinguish frequencies locations above 70 hertz.(albeit harder to notice) For this reason i would never go smaller thatn 6" up front unless you have some very high quality 5 1/4" and time alignment to bring the sub in phase.
Factor in sound deradening too
