Hey guys, haven't posted much on here... but oh well.
I've finally paid my car off, so she's mine. Now I'm starting to change it up. Starting with the wheels.

I don't have a pic of my car atm, so sorry for that one. But she's an '05 TW ES. Metallic Silver paint, with 15" rims atm. Thinking about upgrading to some 17's.

Went around last night and took some photos of the rims around town. Just want to get some suggestions first.

I like:
1st pic: 3rd from top, on left.
4th pic: bottom right

Have to go around the other stores and get pics there, so I'll have a bit more of a selection. I'll get a pic of my car too when I get some time.

3rd pic - top right.

they are BBS Elaneors right? (spelling / brands - i think its BBS)

(they are the ones that i wanna get for my rada - but i want them in 18inches.)

if you sound serious - esp at Bob Jane, some of the sales guys will actually take the rims out of the shop and stand them next to your car to see how they would look against it.
i know the guy i spoke to did - but on the walk back into the shop i got the hard sell
"would you like to get these?"
"yeah i like em"
"would you like to put a deposit down on them?"
"...um no - i didnt bring my wallet with me today forgot it"
(even tho when i walked into the store and started talking i told them that i was only looking for what i like so i can get an idea of price...

anyhow...

BBOSS Eleanors. BBS is a now non-existant wheel making company.

Those arent Eleanors either.. They look like them but they aren't. Eleanors are more straight to the centre, no obvious curvature and have heavy black paint anywhere other than the edges facing outward, which is polished metal. They also have Eleanor written on a spoke in cursive. (Edit; on closer inspection it isn't Eleanor written on it.)

yeh plus the eleanors have less spokes than the ones in the pic.

to the OP, feel free to look up sites like www.tempetyres.com.au and have a look around... most decent tyre places have a stack of brands they can order from, dont just buy from their shelves, get something nice ordered in, u'll be happier :)

Same car and colour as mine :D I got some RJR Lightnings in 17s a couple of months ago, but I might eventually change them. I keep seeing other rims I like all the time :( .....I kinda like 4th pic: bottom right too.

That would be B.Boss Maddison. Much better looking than B.Boss Elanor.

I don't think they are dude... No BBOSS logo on the wheel and doesn't have that signature look.

Thanks for the info, this is the sort of stuff I need to know. I know I want to change, and that's it. So if anybody can give me some tips, it would be much appreciated.

you know 99.99% of tyre shops sell the dtm's as BBoss whats the difference you say?

nothing just the center cap and the fact that the bboss cost much more for the same rim, made in china so they aren't anything special!

there is 2 types of Eleanor rim that are identical and the bboss are dearer, most places put on the ctr sticker and you have an instant bboss and you'd never know.... there is no difference

the SSA copy is close but different writing on it then there is other copys that have zero dish

at the end of the day they are all the same cheap Chinese wheels not forged European 3 piece rims so brands mean nothing, it all what you like the look of best

Just tried the "wheel wizard" on Tempe Tyres. Direct Link here (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_by_car.asp?Keywords=5x114.3+%2B40&WheelSize=17&runww=%BB+Run+Wheel+Wizard) for those interested.

I found a couple that I like.
P001-17*7.0 Starcorp Racing Concept 9 - Shadow (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=&part_no=371)
B021-17*7.0 HP Design - Gunmetal (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=&part_no=373)
B003-17*7.0 Lenso Elegance (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=Lenso+Wheels&part_no=1085)

I especially like the last one, Lenso Elegance. Now I see they're including parts, shipping, tyres, etc. But since I needed to get a wheel alignment done anyway, I was going to get it all done at the same time by someone local here. What chance would I have to get them to put new wheels on for me, even if I don't buy from them? Or would they be able to order these in for me?

I know I need to get into some stores and ask questions, but since I know jack about cars, I'd rather not until I have to :D

Oh, and I was hoping to get my windows tinted down the track, so hopefully the silver/black wheel combo will go with the silver car + black windows.

I'm in Mildura andrewd. Like I've said before, I'm a total idiot when it comes to cars. It won't be a while till I get this actually done, so I'm still investigating.

if ur gonna get lenso elegences, (iv got em in 18s and ther sweet) u might be able to get away with 17's, as the spokes go all the way to the lip of the rim so u dnt get the "size smaller than they really are because of dish" effect

shrike
11-12-2007, 09:24 AM
Yeah, that's what I was hoping for. Any idea what the max size I can go to is? Without doing any mods to suspension, or anything. Terrain where I live isn't great, so I don't want them to rub either.

not to sure coz iv got a tj, im pretty sure u could safely fit 20s as long as u get correct width/offset, would look silly wothout lowering tho. go the lensos in 18s

hey thanks for the pic reup gang. they don't look too bad.
I'm thinking about some 18" wheels now... maybe.
According to this (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=&part_no=1049) they come in 18*7.5. Anybody know if they'll fit on a Magna? It didn't show up on the Wheel Wizard, might have to email them.
