Evening everyone
I was wondering whether there was an eaiser way to replace the headlight globes on the TJ parras. Last time it was such a bugga of a job, there dosent seem to be much room to work with. Do you guys take the headlight out? Just after some tips mabey for next time.
Also im looking at upgrading the globes. Any quick suggestions as to what is good out there. Will do a search, im sure there is plenty of discussion on globe choice on here
cheers

Yeah those globes are bloody hard to take out, and even harder to put in! Sorry i got no tips for ya there
The brightest legal globes on the market at the Philips Crystal Vision (as far as i know) and you're after the H7's. They'll set ya back about $130 a set @ Autobarn, you could probably get them cheaper on Ebay.
Philips generally has the best globes and they range from $20 for standard globes to the $130 ones.
good luck

As far as I know I have heard many saying Crystals and Diamond visions are illegal, but I dont really care. (please guys I dont want to agrue about legality of bulbs if legal you want buy standard bulbs)
Back to the globes, is not easy as you are best to remove the battery and the water reservoir for best space available without taking the headlights off.
My hand are small so I do not need to take them off. But the reservoir is very easy and no trouble at all.

It is a pain in th as* to do, the easiest way is to remove the headlight.
If you have one piece paras then that involves unbolting the front bumper in order to remove them..
there is no 'easy way'
unless u wanna pay a mechanic..
no one would think any less of you lol

Ummm my 1 piece paras were dead easy to replace the globes? I put in some vision plus H7's and they made a huge difference to the standard globes.
I remove the water bottle for the drivers side globe, but the battery side isn't too hard. IF i can fit my fat fingers down there anyone can :P. Unclip the light from the plug. Unscrew the plastic surround, pull off the rubber covering the globe holder, unclip and pull out the globe holder, replace globe in the holder, and then do the reverse.

The brightest (not bluest, the more blue a globe is,the duller it will be,the bluest in the philips range actaully states it has less intensity than a standard bulb, but it will reflect better) is the new philips Xtreme power +80% globes that have just hit the market,if you cannot get them, the philips vision plus are the next best like M4DDOG suggested and will be brighter and throw more light than any blue tinted globe could ever hope for,all without the need for relays or melted lenses,if you have glass lenses and are willing to run seperate relays.the philips "rally" overwatt bulbs are brilliant

Or if you are aware, white light is only for hype and does nothing really in terms of performance just get normal vision plus.
The hotter your globes the more likely you going to melt your plastic paras. One reason why the glass versions are still looks brighter.
If you have small hands I highly recommend you do the drivers side to understand WHAT you need to unclip and how is it done rather than wasting your time wondering how to clip it on the passanger side.
Removing the globes are easy. Is putting them on is sometime a pain.

I recently changed the headlights in my VR-X too. I took my headlights out to do it. It wasn't hard to change the actual bulbs, but I reckon I'd be too clumsy to do it with the lights still in the car :P
I changed mine to Philips Power2Night (http://www.philipslighting.com.au/power2night.htm) globes. Apparently they're pretty new. They're white-ish (whiter than standard - not a ricer white though), but are noticably brighter on dark roads. They're legal too - so I'm pretty happy with them.
Only downside is the price. I went for new globes all around (H1s, H3s, H7s, plus Bluevision for the Parkers) and RRP was around $230  Thankfully I have a mate who works at Autobarn here so I got the lot for about $130 :)

so what are the H1 and H3 for?? I know H7 is low beam, but you mention bluevision for the parkers as extra

I'm an absolute noob and I managed to replace all mine except for the one in front of the reservoir, but then again I have dexterous hands (such an advantage isn't it ) :D.
I couldn't remove the reservoir -- that's how much of a noob i am.

H1 for high beam and H3 for the foglights. I dug up the receipt, the parkers are wedge-type 12V 5W (W5W). I figured that if I replace the lot now, I shouldn't have to worry about changing globes again for a very long time - plus I have a thing for consistency :P
I went for Bluevision parkers as Philips don't make a suitable parker in the Power2Night range.
