thats the first thing i thought as well...those lights look salvageable....wonder if the owner would be willing to sell them? :P

You will have to buy the whole car to get those tail lights might be cheaper to go and buy the tail lights seprately

The bootlid spoiler (needed for the tail lights) looks okay, probably workable. And looking at the others pics, the headlights look fine too.
Question though: shouldn't the VRX have red colored writing on the engine cover?
Ouch: where did that driver side rear wheel go?

It's a GT

Yeah of course. Should have spotted the GT rims.

It's definitely a series 2 380 VRX.

Reason being, the Series 2 VRX had leather & those rims.

It has the VRX instrument cluster and doesn't have the side chrome swipe guard/panel things on the doors.

The engine still looks fine though :)

I thought that too but why does it have the std grey writing on the engine cover?

By the way... Sell me back my old car! lol

It can be done (thats the word anyway)

Apparently the 3.5L DOHC block can be bored out a bit to allow for 6G75 pistons rod and crank.
No-one has done it yet but in the US one guy reckons it will work.
as outlined here

the 6g74 that you've got has been bored out to 4.1L and with low boost i think than FWD gto is running low 12's

Well I don't think the driver wrapped it around a tree or pole through normal driving (what else causes that damage? So if they hurt themselves in the process, they kinda deserve it.

On the other hand, if this was just a freak accident, I do feel sorry for those involved.

Either way it would have had to have been seriously moving when it hit what ever it hit.

Well I don't believe side impacts set off the front air bags, maybe the passenger side airbag didn't go off because the impact wasn't on that side?

VeradaBoy
19-12-2007, 05:25 AM
The passenger side airbag and front airbags did not deploy because there was very minor damage that wouldn't be sufficient to deploy said airbags.

I agree with Doug. If there were any passengers in the back, it would have been nigh on curtains. The impact even to front passenger and driver wouldn't have been nice either.

A good friend of mine was the older brother of one of the four teenagers who were killed in that terrible crash on West Gate FWY recently (went to school together).

Yes on one hand you can say virtually all accidents are caused by a combo of sheer silliness, reckless disregard and lack of real world experience, these accidents (whether this VRX one applies or not) as stated in press is a shocking waste of life. Their families lives will never be the same... again.

To say they kinda deserve it... no comment :(

From memory, he hit an oil patch going round a corner and rolled his 380. How do we know something similar didn't happen here. I think thats the point he is trying to make.

i personally think that chassis has taken a massive hit and has held up extremely well.

I reckon bar the hitting of heads on metal they'd be ok.

My mate was in a coma for a week for a side impact like this but with a 16tonne refrigeration truck at 80km/h. The drivers side was halved in size.

I ripped my car up too but I don't feel I deserved any of the financial pain let alone physical hurt I may have incurred. The attitude that people deserve to be injured is ignorant, noone deserves to be injured in an accident. Sure people make mistakes, but that's it, every accident is the result of someone's stupid mistake, and I feel no one should feel so much pain for a short moment's lapse of logic. But they do sometimes and that in itself is enough punishment. Having been through something myself I don't draw any satisfaction from seeing someone have an accident no matter why.

It seems the poster of the comment in question has conveniently deleted their post. A coward.

It was the comment that went something along the lines of the people who are at fault in these accidents deserve what's coming to them. Patently unnecessary and cold, particularly as some of us it seems, and I can only speak for myself, has lost someone ie friend in an accident.

Well I think thats just bad wording .. I am fortunate enough to have never lost anyone to vehicle crash however if I had i would read that with a heavy heart and be upset by that comment. I read that as a badly worded version of If you speed you increase your chances of dying or being seriously hurt. Or .. when driven responsibly you car will never drive off the road automatically and kill you.

Bottom line no one deserves any harm to come their way and I don't think lugo would disagree with me.

I'm entering this arguement a bit late (way too late by the looks of it), but having made the Dodgy Brothers comment, I (and we, I believe) were making various comments about the car's condition, and how some criminal car yard owners have patched up written off vehicles for sale in the past (though obviously not with a vehicle damaged to THIS extent).
This wrecked 380 pic was already posted by the auction site for sale; WE didn't photograph it out of ghoulish pleasure, nor did we cause the accident. We just made some speculative comments. I couldn't find any comments in this Thread (including mine) implying any disrespect to the occupants of the car and their possible outcome.
Furthermore I would never say that somebody deserves to have an accident, no matter how reckless they were driving or no matter how big a lesson they may need to learn, because that is a horrible and stupid thing to wish on anyone... especially in this case when we know nothing at all about the circumstances behind this crash.
I hope we can all get back on track and enjoy our cars and reading/posting in this forum without turning on each other unnecessarily.

What the! Lol... back on topic... Do u reckon the car mighta been rearened by a truck?
It's pretty severe and at the back, but judging by the state of the seats, and dash, there doesn't seem to be any blood shed or that the driver went through too much severe discomfort, but all means he/she could have, and ode to him/her if they did...

NTM, if someone died in that car, the chances of pics of it being out would be almost unlikely, cos cops would keep underwraps for investigative purposes and to respect the wishes of the family/families involved.

Anyway... How do they choose state reps on this thread? And who should be next for Viccy? lol
