this morning i went to go for a surf and when i started my car i could hear a loud clicking from the engine. Is this the tappets or lifters or something i really have no idea. is this bad for the engine. My car is 98 tf with 246,000km on it and i rely on it a fair bit.

yeah mate that was the first thing i checked its not black or anything.

not really bad. its just the oil deposits on the lifters. should go away after a few seconds. run one of those lifter free liquids before next oil change

i used a high KM's engine oil, and its quiet now, made by NULON, best oil ive ever used

try using some lifter free up.. or engine oil flush next service.. could help it a little.. it's normal for them to make a small noise upon start up for 1 sec till oil pressure gets to the top.. mine just makes a small tick, tickity, tick, for half a second.. and thats all..
