I am seriously looking into getting a TJ VRX or Sports edition magna. I am going to have a budget of around 25k, and i want a black manual. The sports/vrx come with the multi parabolics. I wanna know what you poeple think the major differences are between the two variants. I know they have different body kits, and different mags, but i am going to be replacing those in time. But luxury and performance wise, are there to many major differences?

What the VRX has over my Sports are;
Alloys, BodyKit, slightly better suspension ( I think), more speakers
Everything else is the same... cept I got a battery cover and Bain doesn;t LOL!!!! hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhaah :D :D

Does anyone know why the engine in sports/vrx has more kw's? :D Is it tuned differently, or is it something else :)
I was looking at my local mitsu dealer, and i was thinking wtf doesnt the VRX have a battery cover. lol

Power is slighly up on the VR-X over the sports. But nothing you can't fix easily. You might find it difficult to get a VR-X for around $25,000. You would get a Sports easily, and you could allways get the VR-X kit of us cheap.
We are going to be offering VR-X and Sports packages to upgrade your Executive or Sports to whatever you desire. It will include Things like body additions, suspension components and engine mods. These kits will be customizeable to suit your tastes.

Why is a VRX more powerful?

From memory slight cam and computer adjustments. I can't remember whether or not the VR-X has extractors....

Nah Blake, The Sports and VRX are exactly the same engine right down to the exhaust.. cams, chip, everything else are the same.
The RalliArt on the other hand has a retuned chip and cams....
The only reason the Sports/VRX has more power over the rest is just the muffler....

geez thats not very good...i woulda thought the engine would be slightly tweaked for more power...bummer

I could have swarn i read in wheels that the VR-X got revised cam timing and slight computer modication. I'm 100% certain its not just the muffler. I'll see if i can dig the article up, im sure i have it somewhere...

Blake;
The Sports and VRX got revised cams and ECU over the other models on top of the muffler... (my fault, Gamisou corrected me on this) and that was up to 2002 until the other models got revised cams and ecu to make 155kw from 147...
Essentially, the Sports and VRX are the same car, only aesthethical differences.. and VRX being a heavier girl too.... :D
***EDIT**
I forgot to add... I still can't find a legitimate reason for the price difference.... to top it off all... the bodykit is erm.... errr... put it this way, for the extra money, I rather have the AM kit...
CHEERS!

The 3 grand difference goes into the mags/rubber (standard 17 inch), bodykit, and a few interior extra's, dials and all that shyte...
And the weight difference of the 2 cars is 20kg's :) . I checked the specs on the website.

Getting back on topic... There was a post on another forum about power differences between the Exec and Sports models.. A few interesting points there... http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=001908 Exec faster than a sports? Sweet! =D

the dude recons the exec has a better power to weight ratio.. but going off the weight figures on MMAL's web site..
Exec - 155kW 1467kg
Sports - 163kW 1506kg
And when you do the math..
155/1467 = 0.1056 kW/kg
163/1506 = 0.1082 kW/kg
which gives the sports the edge.. the VR-X on the other hand is somewhere in the middle
163/1527 = 0.1067 kW/kg

the VX Exec Sedan fitted with GenIII V8s were a faster then the SS VX V8 Sedans.
proven by *i think* wheels magazine.. ive got it here somewhere. the SS is weighed down by its luxury featues and Bodykit.
the SS is weighed down by its luxury featues and Bodykit.
must be the same reason mine is a little slower...
Doesnt matter though.. im all about luxury and looking good.
My true performance car will be the Datson 1600, when i can find a decent shell!

I must admit, while i like performance, i would rather have every option ticked in a car where $$$ permits.
I love luxurys and i love playing with eletrics. Even though i don't have any in my current TE my next magna will change all that.
After Driving my uncles brand new Verada GTV down south for 4 hours with satelite navagation i decided i must have one :D

im with you on that one blake.
id rather a compromise 'proformance' than luxury.
i also love electronics! there fun! as for my TE blake.. mmm.. the most technical part of it is the dash DVD player :D
no powerwindows either :( however ive seen a "universal" power window kit (for 2 doors, by a respected manufacturer) for only $320!! when i can bo bothered, im gonna order one. :D:D

that's what makes the sports/vr-x such a great car. Not only do you get pretty damn nice performance (ok, so its 'only' 163kW) but you get some ncie luxuries in power windows, power aerial and climate control. I can certainly do without sat nav in Darwin (it's not that big!) and leather seats are too high maintenance, especially in somewhere as hot and sunny as the NT. I couldn't care less about electric seat adjustments because once you've got it right you never adjust it again.
Ok, so its not as speccy as, say, a BMW 7 series but its also only 1/5th the price :)

slight late reply but there is no difference between the Sports and VRX Magnas engine wise, and no standard magna will touch the VRX/Sports in performance unless the driver has no idea how to drive the extra Kw's is very noticable. Of course having a manual Sports will also leave a Auto Ralliart off the line no problems just the Ralliart will catch a manual Sports over distance. I would not buy a VRX the body kit is a extra 20 kgs and personally I think it's ugly.

U are so full of SH!T!!!!
The onyl time you guys got in front of me was bcause I didn't see you coming up on the other side of the road and by the time I saw you - you were already doing crazy speeds faster than me - so I had to accerlarte to match and increase your speed to catch up - I belive when we had the last cruise mate - I was behind you all the lights you took off at and you did not gain on me at all - and time si had to back off so i wouldnt rear end you!! Mwuhahaha!!
Oh - and learnt to change - when the car is screaming and going - brut-brut-brut-brut - it is the rev limiter you are hitting and you need to shift up!!
