Hi everybody i just got my hands on a tl magna was just wondering if there is somewhere that explains removal of the dash for a car audio install, I see other models explained but there are some differences obviously, Is it basically the same thing as the tj walkthrough? cheers.

It's slightly different for us, as we have that fold down box instead of the ashtray. You need to pull it down, with your fingers along the top edge.

You also need to be careful that you don't hit the SRS ECU with the centre panel when you remove it or reinstall it, as you might damage it (apparently they're quite sensitive).

If you need to remove the floor console, it's bit of a pain to get back in properly, as the air con ducts like to pop out when you try to drop the bracket at the back.

Fullagon,
How did you go with the removal?
I am also considering changing out the Radio in my TL.
Out of interest, what did you buy and did it fit well?
Cheers

sorry bill have been away, have not got around to it yet but i did have a practice run by removing all the console ect. and removing current radio. Getting that far i could have easily just put in the new radio but i didn't have the wiring loom adapter yet so put it all back together for another day. I was only installing a single din bluetooth - cd player but in a few weeks i am putting in a double din screen dvd player i think they would look awesome in there. So all in all i would say it would be an easy, mind you i am not getting to ****y cause i haven't actually done wiring part yet.

ok bill here's an update it is all done probably the easiest radio install i have done my radio was just one of those tevion bluetooth radios aldi was selling (i know guys it no pioneer, but it works well with my phone ok) the radio had an iso plug so it was just a matter of getting the aerpro harness from repco clicking the plugs in and wham bam thankyou mam all over, no cutting wires or soldering ect. If you have done a radio in another car before i would say you shouldn't have any dramas cause there is quite a bit of room to work ect.
good luck

Fullagon,

Thank you for the update.
Don't worry about the Tevion sometimes we spend big $ on expensive brands and still end up with average HU's.

I installed the JVC KD-BT1and I am not happy with the bluetooth as it doesn't work with all my mobiles.

It works well with the Nokia 6288 but not with the Nokia 6120, it disconnects all the time and it's not a fault with the mobile, (I tried using another 6120)

This is the HU.
