Sorry to beat this drum again, but I haven't found any informative threads which specify the pro's and con's of each.

Models I'm looking at is the Redback STR364 and Lukey LR2779.

Will it be beneficial to fit a catback system with either of these mufflers, or is rear muffler alone alright?
I'm basically after a little bit more of a note from the exhaust.

Hope i dont get flamed too much lol

Mate there are millions of threads on both of them although the search function can play tricks if your not using the right keywords!!

But to touch base on them the redback is better if you want a nice note in the higher rev ranges and a stockie bit more beefy sound while idling, i would go with the full cat back exhaust if you can affoord it as the muffler will just bring off a nice note with no performance gains.

The lukey is a bit louder overall than the redback but then again ppl have different stories on whats best, both are a decent system and anyone of them i would recommend!!!

Just to give another option.... I put a Berklee BSO655 straight thru on my old TH. Apparently its the same as a Lukey LR2779 but about $50 cheaper (cost me $180 fitted). Gave a slight gain on the Magna but a much more significant gain when I put the same muffler on my 380. Just something you may want to keep in mind before making your decision.

had a 2.5inch redback exhaust fitted from cat back in my 3.0 TF, felt a bit of performance gain and came with a nice deep note. but you also have to take into account that with the 3.0 engine, it was also an upgrade from a 2.25inch pipe to 2.5inch pipe

i now have a TL 3.5 with the supposed equivalent to the Lukey muffler, but the 3.5 comes standard with the 2.5inch pipes already..

in short i can only compare sound, the red back is louder than the lukey

I'll be fitting up the Redback STR364 (I think thats the part number - rear muffler only) tomorrow.
I'll let you all know what I think of it.
I wont, however, have the Lukey (or others) to compare it to - only standard muffler.

:D

Bloody towbar was in the way... not too much of an issue when you have a 4post hoist though lol

Sound is nice... reverb at about 2000-2200 is a little annoying; maybe it'll 'bed in'?

Overall, not bad for $150.
I'll let you know how its all going in a week or so's time.

forgot to tell you about the droning at that engine speed, but.... you'll get used to it...

Yuck yuck yuck lol
Is there any way to fix it?
It's a bad thing.

Seriously thinking about whacking the stock muffler back on it and maybe having the tips changed over or something.

A little bit disappointing, but I suppose you never know until you try it hey.

you'll get used to it... just give yourself time, other option is the vrx muffler... like as said before, its suppose to be the equivalent to the lukey, thats a bit quieter and you get a nice note when you rev it up otherwise under normal driving you can barely hear it...

changing the tip to the redback will look nice... i didn't get around to changing the tip on my redback, i just left it as per normal.

If you look up a member on here by the name of Barry, ask him about a fuel rail kit. It definetely made a difference for me; no droning, only rumbling

yeh the fuel rail kit.. just get onto any one that can use a lathe.. and turn up your bakelite/plastic fuel rail spacers out of ally.. thats all the kit is.. prolly about 10-15mins work for someone who can use a lathe.. (thats how long it took me) although i'm yet to fit them yet.. :) hahaha soo lazy..

what are the variable prices for various exhaust and muffler upgrades? :)

Had a Redback exhaust fitted to my TF 3.0 V6 from cat back for $480... apparently thats a reasonable price based on other's opinions

Hiya,
Just interested (when I get back from Sydney at the end of Feb) to get a better exhaust fitted. I'm after something that has a nice sound but *isn't too loud*. The redback that others have suggested here (SRT364?) looks all right, and it doesn't seem too expensive to get done either. I'm pretty dense when it comes to this sort of stuff so any advice appreciated!

general consensus is neither are very loud and don't drone but have a nice note which is probably what you're after.
