Well after thinking hard about what to do these holidays Im thinking maybe trick the car out a lil bit. Im not sure whats worth doing or the costs so Im sorta relying on everyone out there to give me a hand with what they think about my plans. Here goes:
2.5" performance exhaust prob just cat back but depends what you all say
Extractors
Some sort of body kit, But I dont know what will fit on my car
Respray Deep Purple
new center console as old one is brittle and snapping
New headunit and front n back speakers, front tweeters, subb in boot.
Pod filter? or some sort of new air intake
17" mags
New CV joints cause mine are making funny sounds :s
New steering wheel Cause mine aint gunna pass RWC atm.
Want to get a tint
Remolding front grill so its one cut with a mesh covering, Neons behind mesh
I want new lights. Like, the LED lights. Blue or something that looks hot. Front and rear. Is there any new lights that will fit in? Like new holden lights or something nice?
New brake calipers
New hood? Like hood cu out things or carbon? lol
Pretty much looking for power and handling mods with a good ride sound that looks hot. Lol so pretty much everything.
I wanna beat Commodore's in drags off the lights and stuff.
Whatever it takes let me know. I wanna have my front wheels spinning when I slam my foot down.
Always looking for freebies in case anyone has any spare parts.
If anyone has any suggestions or knows prices let me know cause Im debating what to do...
O this is the car in its current state.

sice you have taken the time to host images ill take your post a serious
1st off i rember my own 1st car lotta good memorys alot of money spent and lessons learned :) if you just want to race commodores off then line sell you magna and go buy a commodore vn or something as to get it to launch as hard you gotta spend some serious bucks not just a muffler and a pod filter. what ever you mod on this car know you will never see the money again. anyways heres some dollar figures
cat back around $200 if your gettin extractors do it rite go full system complete with extractors should be around the $500 with cat and flex pipe if you shop smart
kit would be off an elante only place you can get them is the wreckers now if your lucky i wouldnt pay more than $150 for a kit myself
no aftermarket lights for the tn to tp magnas
mags depending on your budget
hood unknown
breaks you could go slotted disks but stock breaks on the 1st gens seem to be verry good
instead of a pod that is unusable on efi 1st gens most of us went K & N filters for around $100 as for cold air intake .. i wouldnt bother with or without i see no difference
so with the replacement filter and exhaust you should feel a noticable differnce anything beyond that you need to start looking and some things like cams and head work etc if its an auto id say just keep it as stock find somthing else

Hey there man,
Glad to see someone like me-young and full of hope. However, if you're looking to drag others, then you're not in the right brand/car.
What you could do, though, after ALOT of research, is find out whether a 6G72 from a 2nd gen will fit into the engine bay of yours. Yes i've been told i'm a dreamer, but if it can, you might have yourself something that will keep up with a VP.

yer Im thinking that this magna wont end up having alot of power. Grand dad trying to get me 2 sell it but nar Im keeping... unless I can get a REALLY cheap car. the other day on tradingpost.com I saw a 2006 Nissan 350Z for $9000. 16000k's. It was her hubbies car before the break up. Cood have been mine..... dam.
I want to fix my car up but Im not sure if its worth it with everyone telling me to sell it and that im just gunna lose money on it. its in great condition maybe I will pimp it lol.
Looking for more peoples opinions.
Thanks everyone

You are so awesome!! I wanna be just like you. You are my hero :doubt:
My advice, sell the magna and just buy a "commodore"

the stepper motor on the inlet manifold of the VL genuine is $550
I got one from a wrecker for $25 there are two types
if you can get a VN it would be better
then VL had severe rust problems around the windscreens and bad paint work
they are a cheaper car to fix and can see the benifits over a magna
good luck - watch buying an vl engine over 300,000 km
to do a head up after warpage is over $300

lol sorry for being so blunt before but I can't see how a first gen magna with a few exhaust and intake mods will beat ANY commodore....except for maybe the 4cylinder VC :bowrofl: Unless you were to do some serious expensive work then its really not worth it.
If you want to go fast for cheap, a VL or VN sounds like the car to do so.
I'm sure there are other cars aswell but I can't think of any
Good Luck!

Dont buy a bloody Common***** everybody has one. Be different and fix up the Magna you will have alot more fun doing that than thrashing a VN. You dont need the Magna to be the fast just get it sounding good and looking good. They already have a good shape to work with. I used to want a Holden Common***** but after getting the Magna that changed straight away. The Magna is a much better drive than any Commo that ive driven. But in saying all that If your wanting a car to thrash then I rather you dont do it to a Magna they deserve better.

quite easily... mine gave most commos out there a run and the motor was still bolted to the magna auto box.
$38.50 for falcon weber, $80 for rebuild kit and adaptor plate, $140 for cam, $200 for extractors. thats all it cost me...
