MAde these over the last few days, though I would show them off. They bolt onto the stock headlight top bolts. Give the car a mean look I think.

What do you think?

Well, I'm not usually a fan of eyelids, mainly because people just put sticky tape over their lights.. but yours look very nice and well made.
Good work.

A+ for the workmanship. Looks like you took the time to do it properly, quality bit of work. Now, having said that, you've ruined all that hard work by bolting a car to them :bowrofl:

He has really done a great writeup of both his previous dash panel with 7" screen (which I bought from him ;) ) and his 15.4" display, amazing work.

And the eyelids look great, make the front look more aggressive.

Its a bit of a bad time of the year to set all this up, and im going to NZ in a week. Ill be back early feb and ill get onto mass producing these. You cant buy them now sorry. Ill have various composite items available next year for the magna including a sub enclosure which I have already started mass producing. Everything will be setup in the for sale forums and ebay next year.

2nd gen lids are very possible, ill see how everything pans out next year.

Nice work mate!!!.....

I probably won't buy a set of these eyelids off you because they aren't my sorta thing, but major props for effort and committing to making these available to other members in the future, $40 / pair is more than a fair price for them I think.

Having said that - I can see myself buying one of those sub enclosures off you next year some time

Bigs
18-12-2007, 04:54 PM
thanks black beard. Yeah sub enclosure will be first up. Also in the middle of fabbing a twin component audio panels for the 3rd gen parcel shelf you might be interested in too.

those eyelids look pretty good .. going to make another design by anychance ?

Red Valdez
18-12-2007, 08:28 PM
Woah, they look great. Certainly beats the plastic/taped eyelids.

Any chance of a different design? To be honest, I don't like angled eyelids. I prefer the eyelids that are flat across the headlights (like the one in the attached pic). If you were to make a pair like that when you do your run, I'd definitely be interested, even if it cost a bit more due to the larger size.

Bigs
18-12-2007, 10:07 PM
Thats does look quite good. Not sure how the 3d fiberglass would be going around to the blinkers like that. Ill prolly make another design like that when I get bored of these.

Im not setting it up now with the buildup to chrissy and all. Sorting out amc sponsoring now and testing a few sub fitments and small minor things like postage costs etc. They will be for sale in Feb in 'for sale' forum threads. Ill show some pictures and descriptions to give you an idea of what it is.

The enclosure fits in the little cutout behind the right taillight assembly out of the way on all 3rd gen magnas/rada sedans. It will fit most 12" sub sizes. Capacity is aprox 32L sealed. Multiple 50mm double sided velcro strips will hold it to the boot wall (still to be tested). Final product will be carpeted with black trunk liner to match the magna boot or optional paint ready gelcoat finish. They will come with speaker terminals with some speaker wire, no subs included and will be priced at 250$ pp on ebay with a 20% amc discount to bring it down to $200.

I dont have access to one of these models, so until I do I cant make a set. If there is enough interest I can work something out, eyelids would suit the TL headlights well.

do you think maybe you could make a pair for a TP first gen?

Think about it.
He'd have to get a 1st gen for a while to make these and they arnt exactly easily rented for a day.

Then he'd have to charge for them too, and they wouldnt exactly be "in demand" so they'd be as expensive as buying another 1st gen.

Wouldnt hurt to make some yourself, fibreglassing is fun :D

Make some eyy?

How would I do this? I have no experience with fiber glass but hey I love to learn new skills. Actually, I would be wrapped to learn how to make fiberglass stuff. Maybe I could make kits and other things like that. That would be unreal. Well, Do you know anywhere that teaches how to make or use fiberglass?

What do you use for mould release - just PVA?

I'm about to make up some very different headlights for the car - Triple headlamps (like the old EL XR6's, but with three lamps per side) - Using Hella 90mm modules (2 X highbeam, 1X low per side). Havn't done any fibreglassing for a very long time (only boat repairs) but I need to make a mould using the standard headlamp glass - would carnuba (sp?) wax be sufficient for glass?

Bigs

if you talking about masking tape release, carnauba wax is fine. For tool molding use pva as well.

Love the look of the boxes. They seem too fit really, really well.

I love watching someone take nothing and make something from it, especially something solid.

How hard would it be do you think to make those for a TL (well, any third gen I Think) wagon?

Basically extend the wheel arch to the back and upwards as needed to fit the subdoofer.

Mister Ply & Wood at Lambton has a scraps bin which can have that soft wood used for mold making - same as what the plastic vac molding guys use. They're good to give it away for drinks money if that.
