I have just installed a Tl VRX front bar on my TL ES Magna and it looks a million bucks. I have had my car lowered on King Springs and the new front bar sits pretty low, do any of you guys with lowered TL/ TW VRX's have problems with scraping the paint on the bottom of the bar?
Also my car has 16" wheels on it, by putting 17"s on it will it raise my car any more?

i've got superlows in the front of my car and have not really scraped on anything
i think that the VRX bar sits about 20mm lower than standard bars

Yeah you will find the VRX bar scrapes on steep inclines (driveways and carparks are notorious), but generally if your careful it is hassle free. Just take it easy on the bumps.

Given that mine is black I am a bit conscious of losing paint that will be visible beyond the underside of the bar exposing that bone coloured raw plastic. I think I will probably have to get some touch up paint. I absolutely love the new look though. Now to get lights for the inserts and some nice wheels.
Just an aside, given that mine is black the missing foggies don't take too much away from the look. Also I didn't have the VRX mesh and Mitsu were going to charge me $161.70 for it, its only a flimsy thing that looks like chicken wire so my Panel shop inserted a generic black plastic mesh and I think it looks much better.

A must, for sure.
Now to get lights for the inserts

Yeah I know about the lights, I was quoted $106 for each light for the VRX ones but get this, the VR ones cost over $200 each!
Pics hopefully tomorrow mate.

Just my opinion but i love the side profile because the current side skirts are a good enough match for the new bar but I love how the rear bar is a good contrast to the front. It doesn't look crap at all but actually loks pretty good. IMO of course.:D
Mine is lowered with superlows springs. Scrapped the bottom of the bar plenty of times. Can't remember how many times I've had to touch up the paint on the bottom part of the front bar. Always have to watch out for dips and dodgy driveways esp. some petrol station entry/exits. Always have to exit at an angle to avoid the scrapping.

I think we should all consider ourselves lucky in comparison to poor Ralliart owners, especially the lowered ones. Ouch. :P

This is very encouraging to hear that scraping is common. But what about the wheels? If I get 17's put or 18's put on would it actually raise the height of the car more than it is now?
Also, now this is a real wheels question, do 18's give you that much more of a rough ride over 17's to be that noticeable? This is one strong reason I am really considering 17's, I like the smoothness of the ride of my car.

From experience the difference between 17's and 18's is fairly minimal but the difference between 17's vs 19's is quite noticeable.
Given that mine is black I am a bit conscious of losing paint that will be visible beyond the underside of the bar exposing that bone coloured raw plastic.
The 'raw' plastic is actually a dark grey colour.
I've seen people stick a strip of thick clear tape (contact etc) on the underside of their front bars to avoid light scrapes. Not sure how effective it is though.

if you keep the OD (outside diameter) of your wheels the same as stock, you won't raise or lower your car by changing the rims.
legally, the OD must be within 15mm of largest/smallest rim/tyre combination available on the car.
so you're not going to (legally) change your ride height significantly by getting bigger rims.
cheers,

Thanks Wook!
TL-R, nah dude, my front bar is a bone colour with a slight orange tinge to it. I know cause i just picked it up last week off a guy I bought it off and then I sent it to my panel shop. So when it gets scraped, its gonna show up like white on black. If it were dark grey that would be much easier.

The VRX bumper base colour is white, mine is scraped on the two little things under the lights that hang down. Still 120mm off the ground with superlows on the front
