Have gone through the search link but didn't find my answer.

I know the visual differences between the standard VR and VRX with the Limited Edition ones. I know about the mags, suspension, decals and upgrades but i need more.

The reason i ask is that i am negotiating a purchase, but i am wanting to see if i can guarantee i am buying a true LE.
Is there something in the vin that will show up this difference?
Was there a product run number at which they started?
A particular build month?

hmm looks like it wasnt made straight away, in '03, only '04...
(tho Redbook still says the build date was June 2003!)

*Edit* Limited Edition gets:
*body coloured grill
*Chrome grill surround
*Tinted windows (meh would be hard to tell these days!)
*Factory option sunroof

According to Redbook, it has the exact same VIN

I know with my other hobby car (p76) that they built those in 50 lot runs over a few months. And that the month of build and number of build for that month gives the car identity.
I'm unsure of the rocket science that MMA would have used on the LE runs?

There are anomoly's to every system in that i have a 03 VRX AWD but nothing shows up until 04. All 03's were VR AWD

check the grill, if its colour coded, ur all good... doubt theyd go to the trouble of bothering upgrading that, when noone would notice otherwise!

As i say, i understand all the cosmetic stuff. But if they were a LE then what id referencing is there? People pay big money for cars that happen to be a HO than just a GT Ford. Why? Because of the code(numbers)
Surely with all the tech heads and knowledge boffins, someone is aware of the sequencing of this. What denotes a Ralliart? YEs the plaque and in the serial number. This is it. I will pay more for something that can be proven beyond a shadow that it is an LE.
Someone is selling a TL ES i would think as a "custom build VRX". It even has been registered on the car site as a VRX.

A serious question needing answers.

Did you try to ring MMAL with the vin, ask the question and let us all in on it

at the end of the day, its a TL... sorry to burst ur bubble, but going to such a fine detail over the details has its limits... if the person has spent the money doing it up to an LE as oppose to anything else, then theyre just stupid...

its not going to hold value well, its not going to be sought after, and its not worth getting so worked up over a code... mitsu didnt alter the VIN (which i told you already), and so its the same as a Commonwealth Games TJ... ie nothing!

If it has the upgraded brakes/suspension, then buy it and dont fret so much about the details, its not like its a collectors item, its a bloody TL magna ffs!

SpackBase its not the look or the feel its the knowledge that you own a rarity.

Just imagine having something you thought was genuine and realizing it was fake? Doesnt matter if its a bloody Japanese remake of some cool brand of rubix cube or a friggen yoyo. If its not the real deal you will be dissapointed..

Dont you remember Pokemon cards and the god dam posers with the japanese ones!!! Nobody liked the fake ones did they now haha.

fair enuff, but we're talking the real deal... of what is similar to a dealership addon pack. Its not a ralliart, its just an LE, and if someone has gone to the trouble of doing the forementioned addons, then it is an LE... no matter what!

Ok, ralliarts have a limited build number, and you'd be annoyed if the one you got had everything (and i mean everything) ralliart on it, youd be annoyed it wasnt 1 of the 508 or so made, but happy that you had the same thing. now with a TL VR/VRX LE, that doesnt matter... if someone has added on the suspension/brakes/cosmetic upgrades, then theyre just doing what Mitsu has done... you wont find a build plate or anything showing it was a limited run, you just find that it has those things... and the only way anyone would ever know is by calling Miisu and finding out its a regular magna or something...

its like buying an ipod knockoff, that looks like an ipod, has the same software, same branding, everything identical, yet was bought cheaper... who would care that it wasnt an ipod, given everything is the same inside etc...?

I'm going to make a point here... People back in the dark ages when they bought old cars thought exactly like this. But, whats a clean HK Prem worth? Or an XB Fairmont? Or even a P76 Targa Florio? You never know what surprises the market may spring in many years to come. A TL L/E might just be worth something because of its rarity in 30 years!

its a little un-nerving to think that in 30years time... the rundown cars that you see getting around the place - will be TL magnas!
tomorrows bunky's will be todays new cars!

(there will of course be the ones that get looked after, and in a further 30years might be worth thier value from when they rolled off the production line new... but damn.. thats a long way away yet!!!)

I remember I was invited to the launch at the factory...and unless I'm mistaken it also had, Pirelli 6000, Enkeis, rear window Ralliart sticker and a Ralliart branded black compendium.

enkeis were on the standard VR (mate of mine Gaz has one, it has the ralliart magna enkeis), booklet may have been long gone (u'd hope not, but possible), destickered and rubber changed :P

the ralliart rims only came out on the limited editions
mines limited and has them, and you'll find that gazza's is a limited too
