Now...

this service i'm gonna put her in to get the once over. what i want is help from you guys to make sure i get everything that needs to be done.

i know i need:
1. timing belt
2. " " tensioner and idler pulleys
3. cam seals
4. water pump
5. spark plugs

what else should get done while she's naked... crank seals?

Cheers,

Tim

only do the pump if its leaking or noisy..
do the crank seal

replace the belts on the outside of the timing covers.

do a auto flush if needed or a fuel filter

Its too late if the pump is leaking or noisy, if you can afford it may as well do it while everything is out, cost a lot more later on if it fails otherwise, although its not likely to fail before the 200K service.

Auto flush and fuel filter is pointless, makes no difference doing it while the timign belt is beign done, worth doing it if it needs to be, but do it anytime, you will be spending a lot of money already.

Dont know for crank seal if its easier or worth doin.

a suggestion fit a full water pump
a half still leaves you with a corroded half of a pump

wont be much change out of $2000

if you bought a VRS kit that would leave you with spare head gaskets
the cam seals should be done and are easy to do because they leak as do the rocker covers
and you get an inlet manifold gasket

if the motor has done 100000 i would consider the valve stems be done as well

the other thing to have checked /replaced is the smaller bypass hoses if reqiuired on the drivers side they split and can cook the motor

the gearbox oil should be changed once a year at minimum

ive never seen a water pump fail on a mitsubishi before 200000km. but it is wize to look at it while it is apart spin the pump listen for bearing nois and check for leaks. dont bother doing it at 100000km unless there is a problem.

cam and crank seals are cheep only a few bux each + lab these seals will also do 200000m without a problem but because they are cheep just do them.

the automatics in magnas will last a lot longer if the oil is replaced more often. if the oil is not bright red orange colour drain and refill it with new mitsubishi fluid.

and the fuel filter is just a nother cheep thing to get replaced while on a hoist.

i could do this whole job for under $1000
