I have a KS Verada, now I know some of these came with a drivers airbag but mine doesnt. As I want to replace the cheap and nasty thin plastic steering wheel, I was thinking of instead of going for a momo, to just get a 3rd gen steering wheel. Now since som KS veradas had airbags, I would assum all the sensors would be there in my car??? If so, would it be possible to fit either a 2nd gen or 3rd gen airbag wheel to it?

Any thoughts or experience on this would be awesome.

cheers,

Ollie

I would doubt if your car didn't come with standard airbags that your car would have all the sensors and the computer etc. It would seems strange to put all those expensive parts in and just not put the right steering wheel on. But i dont take my word as gospel, i reserve the right to be incorrect.

I agree, you may have the brackets and possibly the wiring in place but take a second to think about it, why would they waste the money on putting the sensors into your car which has no airbag?

I have a TR exec and a 3rd gen steering wheel, just get one that didn't have the airbag.

Fairly certain the sensors won't exist. Can't remember off-hand which computer handles the bags.

I'd say fitting the airbag system would be possible, but would advise that this is one of those few things best left to professionals. Which also means $$$. You don't want to mess it up and kill yourself when the bag goes off mid-install.
Being an optional extra, there obviously must be some way of installing them.

I have just stripped a TS and have been over, under in and out of the thing and there no sensors for airbags fitted to mine, and no provision for fitting them, ie wiring, brackets or like that. tho I do have a heap of other spare parts located near wollongong. Cheers
