Having moved for 94 TS Advance (310 000km when I sold it and sweet as) to 02 TJ Advance 75 000km I have a few comments.
Score the TJ
Power. Smooth ride. Climate a/con (although It is not as great as I expected it to be, maybe not working properly).
Fuel consumption (average 10.6 l/100km, genuine over 5000 km, not trip computer). Very happy as it is better than TS.
Big boot and easy to fit things into it.
Engine is LPG compatible.
Score TS.
Clock other than only in radio. THE OLD ANALOGUE CLOCK looked great and was always easy to spy.
Proper head rest in the back. Fore and aft adjustable head rest in the front (loved them and guess Mitsu decided to reserve these for the Veradas).
LEATHER STEERING WHEEL.
Mud flaps for rear wheels
Better brakes (twin caliper fronts)
Cruise control levers/controls in a better postion and more sensible the light only came on once you locked onto a speed.
Passenger front seat lumbar adjsutment.
Transmission OIL COOLER (I felt the need to fit a cooler to the TJ)
Filter for ATF inside sump (can be replace easily and cheaply)
The primary fan did not run nearly as much (with TJ once the A/C is on the fan hardly stops and even with A/C off the fan continues to run once the temp goes up, even if it then falls.
The TS seat was more supportive under the legs.
After 13 years no flaking on rear window rubber
Front windscreen garnish like new after 13 years
Black plastic trim (triangular) near mirrors not cracked.
Preferred the POWER/ECONOMY switch over the tranny that learns. If been stuck in traffic in TJ for and hour and then want to floor it to get into a gap does the car think I am a granny and respond slowly???
Sold the TS WITH 310 000km on clock with original motor and auto tranny. Replaced only end clutch plates at 240 000km (did it myself in 5 hours at cost of $120, other than that only fluid and filter changes). Bet can't change end clutch plates on TJ WITHOUT removing and stripping whole box.
No hydraulic lash adjuster noises on TS @ 310 000km (replace 3 or 4 over a period of time). TJ engine seems noisier overall, but no adjuster noises.
Bet there are a few things I forgot to put on the list.
Still think Mitsubishi has a great product. 380 could be on the cards next time, but the boot is smaller than TJ. Only real advantage I can see that TL/TW has over TJ is the extra airbags.
