Guys I'm posting this as a new thread so Bigs can get an idea of how many ppl are interested, and also so we can argue over which design to use :P


I dont have access to one of these models, so until I do I cant make a set. If there is enough interest I can work something out, eyelids would suit the TL headlights well.

Anyway, here are my suggestions for eyelids for the TL. Note all the pictures have a fake extended bonnet line (if these eyelids ever make it to 'production' lol maybe this could be implemented as 2 separate pieces).

Vote for which design you think looks the best, and also if you will actually consider buying them if they are made!! Alternatively post up your own suggestions (as my photoshopping skills can use a lot of improvement!!)

Really? Maybe its just my computer... they are incredibly dark.

yeah its hard to see because of the black body colour and light. If you open them all and flick through them you can see the difference better. I like 3 and 4.

I like No 4 better
although the pictures IMHO are a bit dark.
Perhaps a closer view would help.

but not as low, was going to do it from the points the bonnet meet the light

can a tl-tw owner tell me if there are bolts at the top of the lights like mine?

just a thing i have noticed with viewing picture on here i have found that in IE the pictures are generally darker and harder to see but in FF they are fine maybe the mods should check this out or ppl could just go to what is better

No sharp egdes, just sort of cutting the top bit out to make it look more aggressive.

i agree i like the more square rather than triangle look

I like 3... the cat eyes are about the only thing I don't like about those cars and that fixes it! :D

Very nice :cool: - this and picture 1 from the original post are my favourites so far. i think the sharp edges suit the car nicely, especially when you consider the shape of the nose and bumper.

I was never a big fan of eyelids coz they have such boy racer appeal :P but this headlight design screams for them!

But I think you need to retake ALL the pics in broad daylight.
Is better for everyone to see.

I still think this looks better. None of these here flow with any of the lines of the car. These flow with the lines of the grille and really look very good.

yeah that seems to look better on the standard TL, but the triangle look Bigs suggested is a better match with the vrx bumper. imo anyway :D

well if there is no mounting spot I cant do it at all. Could someone take a picture of the top of there headlights for me? and how many people posted here would actually buy them? Cus looks like my only option to make these is to hire a tw for a day, and im not doing that if only a couple of people will buy them.

I think 3 and 4 are the best. 1 and 2 just look wrong.

I have a silver TL, and I can't draw for crap, but I was thinking of covering the whole plastic light fitting in silver and then making three round cutouts to match the three lights.

Does that make sense?

i liked the white TL (cjc1959au 's pic) with the eyelids, i think it follows the lines of the grille / bonnet very cleanly - i would be interested in buying them ones if they where made for sale!

Yeah I just attached that picture as Bigs wanted to see the mounting spot for the headlights.

How come I can't see cjc1959au's picture? am i doing something wrong ???

thanks for the pic raven, bolts are there, should be fine. Going to be in Syd for a week tomorow then NZ for a month. I might hire a tw and build a set of these in Feb for you all. Price will be a bit more then the TJ ones, no more then $50.

I reckon option 2. And this Biggs version reminds me of the new Honda Accord (non-euro).

i asked around my local car hire places a few weeks ago for a TW but its to old noone has any available they all said they get rid of there cars after 1 year. So these are on hold until I find someone with a tl-tw. sorry

That doesn't look too bad. Would be nice to see it from a few different angles. Looks good with the tinted headlights but obviously would be illegal and not practical.
