Whilst my brother and I were trying to remove the airbag to fit a VR-X steering wheel to my TL, the Torx screw in the left hand side of the airbag has become stripped internally.
Is there any way to remove it?
The airbag assembly appears to have little tabs holding the screw in, which makes it almost impossible to remove.
I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that the wheel is now permanently stuck on the car.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking. If I can drill and screw extract it out, then I'll be fine.
I'm not buying a new car yet. I only just got this one!

if you have a dremel, cut a line in it, and then try and use a screwdriver to get it out ;)
Hopefully that helps

Unfortunately it's not that easy, as the screw is recessed about 10mm underneath the airbag shroud.

yep done it heaps of times get a drill bit bigger than the size of the screw. the stripped head centers the drill bit nicely. take it easy and once the head comes off u can get the stump out with ur fingers.
dont forget to disconnect the battery first!

Not necessarily. The screw has got thread locker on it or something like that.
You need to make sure that the drill and screw extractor are the appropriate size for the screw.
The thread will most probably be a 6mm. I have a chart at work which tells you what drill and extractor size to use. I will try to remember to copy it down for you.

Once I was tightening a bolt on my old car on the gearbox, think its alloy inside for some reason, so its not too strong, and the head of the bolt came off.
I bought this tool from bunnings, comes in two parts, first you drill a hole through the screw, then you drill with a special drill bit which has a reverse thread, so even though it is turning clockwise and drilling into the bolt, it unscrews it. Came out with no effort, amazing creation. That would be your best bet.

Sounds like an easy-out.

 its possible, but your car may have been in a serious accident and they replaced the airbag and put thread locker on it. cause i can't remember seeing any on my wheels and i got the cars new and theres none on these brackets i have as spare cause i replaced a lot of wheels. or any on the 10 steering wheels here as well. but it is possible.
