Hey guys,
Not sure if you are aware, but you can purchase white dial (EL) kits for 2nd Gens.
They are white during the day and blue during the night. Not some paper insert.
www.spoilershop.com.au <Intereor<Dials<EL Dials<Mitsubishi<pg2
They are $295 and come with controls to adjust how blue you want them at night.
See attached image, it is a TR dash, but TS the same, except speedo goes to 220km/hr
Thanks
Ben

The difference will be for the 4cyl vs 6cyl, not TR vs TS.
So they've finally made one natively in km/hr. Have always been miles with a little km in the centre.
Either way, $300 is ridonkulous.

300 isnt expensive really, especially when u just forked out 10g to turbo ya magna:confused:
If your in WA they are installed for free, just rock up in your car to spoilershop and they will fit them.
Cant expect everything to be cheap and look as good :P If you want the EL dials doubt you will find them any cheaper.
I get mine early jan when the shop opens up, so will take pics and post them. :)

I dont think these are quite what you guys make up at home. They probably look the same during the day, but at night they look awesome, the white glows blue.

86_Elite's not selling them, he's only letting us know they are available. Don't shoot the messenger.
If you don't want to pay $300 for them, then don't. But please don't slam the thread or the idea of them.
If you can make them cheaper then maybe you should and sell them here on AMC. (Please do :D)
We've been watching these being sold (heaps cheaper I admit) on ebay in the US for ages and complained about them being in MPH and not quite right. (I think AMC did a group buy once)
We all complain about nothing being available for a Magna. But when someone makes something for a Magna and here in Australia for an Aussie car, we then complain about the price.
/end Rant :D
Anyway, it's nearly Christmas so maybe we should all just ask Santa for a set. ;)
86_Elite,
Thanks for letting us know.
Please post up some pics when you have yours installed, I'm sure they'll look sweet.

Ok children, behave, lets all have our say and not get flamed for it?
With these dials, the 220 is for the v6 version, you can fit them but your speedo will be way out of wack.
The V6's all had the speedo to 220, I am not sure how close you would be if you grabbed the v6 cluster and fitted these only suffice to say the 4cyl came with 14" wheels so you will be off there to begin with.
I don't get it, so its the whole cluster, or just the white paper sort of bits? If its not the whole cluster how does it change the lighting? Hmmm

nah mate
its not white paper, it slides over your old dials and they got wires attached to them that you cant see to put a glow on them at night... like i mentioned this ones come with an adjust to make them darker or lighter. You dont need to send your dash off or anything.
and yes 4cyl is 200 and v6 is 220.
Heres a little hint, if you run 18's with 45 profile they are very close to the rolling diameter of the stock 15s and no need to adjust anything.... which is what I have.... im within 4km/hr...

The sheeting is electroluminescent; a specially coated material that luminesces when AC current is applied. It must have a driver circuit to provide the supply at the correct frequency.
I'm guessing in this case the entire dial luminesces blue, and there are black numbers overlayed. Different versions have an overlay over the majority of the dial, so just the numbers luminesce.
EL sheet is relatively expensive and finicky to work with, but material costs should be well under $50 at a guess.

Meh, toyed with EL for some stuff a few years ago, didn't live up to expectations, so got over it.

My TS V6 is 6km/h out @ 120kph
Got this reading of a GPS unit. (how accurate are these?)

So/so... Some more so than others, they will never be perfectly accurate because the Earth has an average of 3 degrees more in Diametre then was initially measured... Something to consider :P

A GPS speed is quite accurate. Absolute location isnt, but if its got good satellite communication and coverage (you cant tell when you are using it), and you are travelling at a constant 100kmh on a relatively flat road, it will be to the nearest kmh
By the way, with 18's, it depends on the width of your tyres as well. A 235/45 will be bigger than a 215/45. I have 235/40's on mine and with the GPS, at 100khm, the speedo reads about 6-8khm above from memory. Which is probably what its like stock
Ollie
Well stock tyres on a V6 2nd gen are 205/65 R15 aren't they? Based on that, if you have 18" wheels your tyres should be 235/40 R18, thats 0.4% out. So 100km/h on the car should mean your doing 99.6.
I wouldn't be happy with anything more than 2km/h out at 100km/h.

^^^ yeah your good at maths aha I have 235 45, so I would be a little bit out like I mentioned in a previous post, 235/40 is hard to find, usually 235 45, but not saying its impossible.

Hmmm that might mean 45's are cheaper. since the speed is only 3.5kmh over at 100kmh, and according to GPS the speedo over reads above 5khm at this speed, its not gonna be a problem. Clearance on the other hand....
