Hey people,

well this is the second time this has happened so i thought i would comment on it on here and see what you all think.

As most of you would know i have heaps of magnas and particulaly collect the Grand Tourer models. A few months ago my dad received a phone call (same number as me, landline) from saying saying they had a GT magna they wanted to sell me as theyd see my 'desire' for them on our website (www.carcyclewholesale.com - and click on the magna museum page if youd liek to see what theyre looking at)... anyway it was cheap and nearby and so i went to go get it. Upon arriving at the house the person had no Magna and no idea even... So it turns out that it was just some hoax.

Anyway, Friday another call came and i was asked if id liek to go on a "GT Magna" cruise... and that a group of "GT Magna" enthusiasts were gathering at glenelg today (sunday) and then going on a cruise, with a $500 reward for the most original... Anyway, i said yeah yeah...went along with things... obviously this couldnt happen as there wouldnt even be enough of these style magnas around to have such an even with money awards and things... unless i ran it, i have enough of em hahaha!! But still, Id be stupid to be fooled again, obviously didnt go... i hope it wasnt real hehe! But i wonder what the point of doing that would be? Anyone got any ideas? Or whether i should do something other than go along with them if they try it on again?

I just think its so pathetic and pointless... unless they know who i am and are there watching me and laughing... which would be pretty depressing waiting around for me all day and to not find anyone!!

Yea... so what do ya think!!

Alex.

I think the internet is rife with nutters... I'd just ignore it all if I were you. Be selective about where and with whom you share your info with.

Sounds like someone you probably know to me. Know anyone with a beef?

Yeah... i dont think it is anyone i know though... simply because they dont ask to speak to me, they just speak to whoever answers the phone. Its our yard number they ring, if they knew me id say theyd ring my phone, or even ask to speak to me - the "fellow magna enthusiast"

Cant think of anyone who would/should do it either

...which makes it seem even more stupid!!

seems very stupid and immature. try not to let it get to you. but if it does trace the number and give em a call back n tell em to **** off

post disclaimer on your web site

if its inside staff there can be 3 warnings given ..then the sack

record the call for voice recognition .. write down details and time and contact police

get a phone that shows up the number being called in

ring the number back after the call see if the number is legit

get the hoaxer sucked in as if you want to see/buy the callers car

have the caller face up to you or meet (take a mate-- some where very public )

make up a code word to be used by a few trusted contacts only if needed

if it leaks you narrow down the search

People are having you for a ride and by posting this thread, you are entertaining them.

Obviously they are on this site or have access to it, so they will read this thread. Let me know if you want me to delete it.

Ignore it, it will go away. They are after a reaction.

I dont think code words and police is really necessary, if anything going to that extent would just make matters worse as it gives them something else to laugh at. Police will do nothing for prank callers. Its not malicious.

Mate, you run a business.

Anyone who answers the phone should get a name and a number.;)

Failing that, it's not worth following up.

This guy collects First Gen GT's good on him. Is good to see someone who has an interest in more than a newer or more common car.

Carcycle, good on you for having an interest in something many would see as futile, people said this about the old falcons not that many years ago, now standard XY's are fetching 10 times what they were worth new. Not saying that this will happen with the Magna GT but keep up your interest.

Anyone who wishes to state that this is stupid, waste of money etc etc, save yourselves the trouble of posting in this thread as your post will be deleted and you will be facing a chrissy holiday

Maybe they are trying to get you out of the way so they can break in? Not very likely, and probably not foolproof anyway, but another possibility to consider.

before u contact police, contact ur fone company first off.
report the hoax call/s to them.

they will give the caller a warning.
If it continues, contact ACMA and/or then the police.
