Gday all,
Just filled up my tank of fuel and to me, it sounds that my exhaust makes a different drone (much deeper) when my tank is full, in comparison to half empty.
Definitely louder at the very least, can anyone confirm if this is sposed to happen, if something is wrong, or if anyone else has at least noticed something like it (its not overly important, just like to know why it makes a different noise)

Sound vibrations leave your exhaust they bounce off things, even though the majority of noise leaves the tail pipe, it still penetrates throughout the exhaust, sound bounces off objects. So i would be thinking maybe as your tank is full sound is reflected a bit better as it passes your tank giving one sound when full and absorbs in and doesn't reflect back as much when empty...
Probably not the best explaination but thought I would give it a go.
Might have some half truth behind it but i might be down the wrong road completely.

I find my car is loader and deeper with a full tank OR a load....
If any an empty tank would resonate like a drum... I think it's just the extra load on the motor like going up a hill.

if you put 50L of fuel in your tank, you are also increasing the weight of the car by roughly 50kg as well. The engine has to work harder due to the extra weight, which changes the sound of the exhaust.

1L of fuel is not 1kg.. it's lighter than water.. 1L of pure water is 1kg..
1L of fuel weighs about 737 grams.. so about 36kg's.. for 50L of petrol..
