If anyone wants real carbon fibre layed in their car, say around the console for example let me know and i can do it for you. in my TS i hav done the console and around the dash dials. What will do is take out your existing console or provide u with a genuine new mitzy console, lay over the plastic console pieces with carbon fibre and give a clear resin finish so u can see your reflection. If anyone is interested leave a PM and i can get back to you

I can afford to get it done, but just for future reference, how much would u be looking at for a job on aTF?

I haven't worked it out yet but you'd get change out of $100 but i don't know how hard the TF console would be to do, but anything is possible. if u come on the next mitzy cruise, sunday week i'll be there so u can have a look at what i've done

Doesn't anyone want Carbon Fibre in their car? Honestly this stuff looks shit hot! It could possibly be one of the cheapest cosmetic things you do to your car, and it beats that stick on crap from Autobarn. Think about it guys.

i would be very keen to have my side mirrors done in carbon fibre. Any idea how much that would set me back?

Side mirrors would rock, I'd be in for some of those for my car.

Hell yeah for the side mirrors - i am sick of not having colour coded mirrors - the black mirrors with silver car just dont look crash hot!!

On a black / grey car you don't notice them as much but covering them in carbon fibre would be insane.

TZABOY, how much do you recon this would set me back? Im keen to have it done.

Hell Yeah me too!!

But that would mean we have to remove our mirrors and send them over - and have no mirrors on our cars!!!

I can live without mirros for a couple of weeks, just mask over them to keep the water out.

Manual
16-05-2003, 06:12 PM
But u cant drive without them - yellow sticker job that one!!!

And i cant not drive my car for a couple of weeks (unless of course it is in the shed with an engine transplant going on) but i dunno!! Maybe a trip to the wreckers!!

Im not into Rice.

If you were talking about removing the whole console and replacing it with Carbon Fibre thats a different story.. But pasting it over your current console = wanky rice crap..

Thats my opinion though and im sure it differs from most..

Mate - Rice is when you put a 5" zorst onto a mirage or lancer or corolla, a 2foot high T wing on a car that cant drive above 100km/h!!

Lowered to the point that if it drives over an ant it wrecks the front bar.

Neons all over and through out it (I have this and still class it rice)

and all other modifications (Electronic N/A BOV, cardboard FMIC, plastic rings over drums to make them look like discs) are all rice.

but i dont think re-colouring / texturising an interior is rice. I re-sprayed mine silver - dont think it is rice - looks much better!! and not only in my opinion but other ppl as well.

I dont think rice has a line definition!!

i can understand retrimming your interior and such to make it look/feel better.

But carbon fibre for your interior? Come on.. thats just a joke.. Carbon Fibre should be used for the purpose it was made/engineered for.. Light weight replacement to steel and other products or heat shielding/replacing parts.

Adding this stuff to your interior is a joke.. Added to the fact that if it does start to come apart (if the epoxy and resins arent the proper mix) it can be harmful to inhale and is quite easy to get into your skin.. (think fibreglass here.. mm fun!)

Also carbon fibre doesnt look like the sticker design shit you get from super cheap auto.. Its more of a solid black without the crosshatch silver interlacing it..

Everyone has thier own taste's so its up to them to decide whether its rice or not.

I tend to agree rice is reserved for cars with 5" cannons and decals running down the side of doors.

And after i have the kit and wheels i will be spending money on engine mods!

As mine is a 2.4 performance options are out the window, so until i get a performance pig of a car looks are all for me :D

Ok guys, i'd like to answer all your questions.
Blake, what i can offer you. I could go to Mitzy Parts and pick up 2 new blank mirror holders, carbon them up for you and send them away and do a COD job. As for cost, material would cost about 30-40 bucks and i'd charge 50-60 bucks labour so material and labour is about 90-100 bucks plus buying parts and delivery. It would take 4-5 days to do because i would do a few coats of clear finish over them so you get a mirror, resin finish. The epoxy I use is the highest quality because where i work, the resins hold 90 foot racing yachts together and i'm very experienced in this sort of work.
Ricing up??? BULL SHIT! Ricing up is putting a white vynal interior in your excel, not a carbon console in a magna. I'm cruising sunday night so i'll try and get some pictures of them

TZA Boy, im happy to ship my mirrors to you thats not a problem and im happy to pay you more for the trouble.

As soon as i get the website onto our new server then we will talk business.

Sound fair? Im super keen to have this done, saves me having to paint them, carbon would look insane and i don't have to worry about getting stone chips as much as if it was paint. Not to mention this bloody shrub my left mirror allways seems to come into contact with... urgh...

TZABOY

Blake you still interested in those mirrors done?? I strongly suggest you let me go and grab another set because i was talking to some of the boys at work about it, and they reckon to give your job about 20 coats of clear so you get a perfect finish, and the fact that they live outside all the time need a thicker finish. That'd take a week or 2. Up to you

Im happy to drive without mirrors for a week or two to keep costs down.

Im very keen to get them done, i just have to sort out a couple mechanical problems first like engine mounts and timing belts...

As soon as they are sorted im going to take you up on your offer, absolute champ. Looking forward to having these puppies done :D
