i wouldn't advise using it afaik oil only goes cloudy when it is mixed with water

EDIT: was partially right this link (http://www.practicingoilanalysis.com/article_detail.asp?articleid=1103&pagetitle=Diagnosing+a+Cloudy+Oil) might help you out

I once bought a 20L of Valvoline diesel oil, when I opened it the oil had a white cloudiness to it. Not being sure myself wheather it was ok or not, I took it back to the truck shop and they refunded my money telling me that the white cloudy is because it has 1.sat for too long, 2. drum has been in direct sun for too long, 3. 1 and 2 prob caused condensation.

In short, I would'nt use it...

Either water or air is mixed in.

Let it sit for a day. If its still cloudy, its probably contaminated... dont use it.

If it turns back to clear state after sitting for a while it should be ok.

Weird, gibb has a few answers, but I wouldnt think sitting in the sun would do anything, considerign how hot it gets in the engine, and i wouldnt think that new oil would break down over time, at least not for a very long time.

I guess it could be water, but I reckon that the water would evaporate very quickly once its in the engine and warmed up. Then again if it was my car I would probably be too worried to take the risk

It would.. BUT it depends on the amount of water in the oil. IMO its not worth the risk, not for what a new bottle of oil is worth anyway (something like $12 for valvo XLD). Getting water into your bottom end bearings is big no-no.

Of course... but not for a magna.

I've used Redline oil before.. and at $140 per service.. its not the kind of stuff you want to waste.
