Hey all,

Nothing new been done here in terms of how the car looks, considering the upper-market Magnas have something very similar to what I've done over the past week, but still!

I drive a TH Solara, the front of which looks like this:

Thought an Altera LS grille might be nice to go with the silver skirt, but a trifle steep at $140 ... so figured I'd make me own!

Bought a TH Sports grille (slightly damaged), ditched the surround and sprayed the rest of it (which includes the plastic criss-cross bits) with chrome paint, let it dry for 5 days, apply one last coat to cover the paint sag caused by too heavy a paint job the first time), and install. Looks like this:

Mebbe I'll get spotted now!!

Dude... three metre wide photos are not cool. Resize or put a warning in the thread name. The east coast internet access ground to a halt while I tried viewing this thread.

Is that why it took me a while to log on?... lol

Gone ya one better than that mate - I've resized them from 5.95MP(!!!) to 0.79MP at 1024x768 screen resolution, so that should be better for most people.

I'd had a few drinks last night before I put those pics up but still had the presence of mind to chop the file sizes down to 330k from 2.5MB each ... just forgot that not everyone has a 24" widescreen. lol

Now they're only 75-90k each so prolly not even worth putting a warning on it as I was going to.

Sorry to everyone else who had issues displaying the pics but cheers to the people who said they like the job. I reckon it looks very much like the real deal now (especially in that night shot), but we'll see what happens after the car has been washed a couple of times. :)

looks neat mate, congratulations, its good when someone goes and does this using there own skills, instead of someone like me and going and buying one, because there to slack, like me lol. anyways my 2c says congratulations, even though its a small mopd, still makes a large difference to the front of the car.

they should go out and spend the $18 is costs to get a video card that supports 1024x768.

i didnt know 640x480 existed as a screen resolution anymore. haha. jokes :P

on a more serious note, the grill looks good. its the little things that count. it all adds up to an awesome ride.

Yep, exactly what i reckon. I reckon the Solara looks good for a stock car anyway but the grille makes it look that much classier.

Yeah, but on a Solara? :P

I didn't have to scroll anywhere at 1920x1200 ... that's why I didn't think about it! Well, that and the fact that I'd had 2 shots of Jagermeister and 3 glasses of port within the hour. lol
