Hey guys, i have a clarion sound settup the problem is the speakers are in fine, so is the deck but ive had this clarion amp ive been trying to get in, but have never done anything like this so have no idea what the best way to do this is. im wondering if anyone could give me tips on the following;

Make: Mitsubishi ( Hell Ye lol)
Model: Magna 97 TF Advance

1. Where i should place the AMP
2. What is the best way to wire the amp from the battery ( a mate said i should try and feed it through the hole that goes into the firewall or maybe drill a hole into the floor of the car, any ideas on this? suggestions?)
3. How exactly am i supposed to wire the settup (my carpet is in complete chaos atm, thinking a replacement soon, any suggestions where i could get a replacement carpet and are they easy to install?)

Thanking you all in Advance :P ( No Pun Intended )

1. i would get a panel made up so it sits on the side of your boot
2. theres a couple of places for the wire to come through the firewall, one place is where the clutch pedal would be you'll see two pipes coming through a rubber gorment. poke a hole through and feed your wire through there
3. how do you mean?

Thanks for the reply,

For part 3 of my endless question LoL, im refering to how would i wire the amp, from the batttery to the amp itself as in under the carpet? i guess a better way to phrase it would be how do i hide the uglyness of a red power cable LoL, is there any other way then under the carpet?

Kind Regards

oh lol i see what you mean
well yeah the only way to hide the wires in under the carpet
so from the battery throught the firewall then pretty much straight under the carpet till you get to the amp
i cant think of any other way to hide them

Yeh, you can run the power wire down the side which is quite easy, just unscrew the plastic scuff guards, and the carpet comes up and you run it through. You can probably also run it down the centre console if you wish.

I dont know if you want to show the amp off, but I like to mount mine under the front seats. Completely hidden, and out of the way. Also, less wiring distance, which saves on cost, and probably also better sound quality if your desperate!

My 2c is under the seat aswell.

rule of thumb, run your power cables and your RCA cables seperate.
IE RCA's down middle console and your power down the drivers door sil to eliminate any noise comming from the alternator down your power cable.:D

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated, im in need of a new carpet, anyone know what they cost? seeing as im gonna be doing the wiring under the carpet, i might aswell rip the old one out, do the wiring and apply a new carpet (my current carpet is in need of replacement, when the original owner tried putting a sony Xplode system in, he riped the crap out of it and now it looks pretty bad). kill 2 birds with one stone,

thanks again :)

Just on amp mounting is there any reason not to mount the amp upside down on the bottom of the parcel shelf metal frame?

its strongly not recommended mounting any amp upside down
this is because it wont provide proper cooling for the amp which will effect the performance

unless you're running it at max capacity and it's a hot amp there shouldn't be any worries. Common sense.

My jaycar 500wrms only gets luke-warm after a full tilt hour bash and it's planted there. Your parcel tray can act as a heat-sink too, unless the amp gets real hot real quick.

Hot air rises remember.
