i have a tf 3.0 auto, for the first five minutes after start up, hot or cold , the engines dies when gradually accelerating unless it is floored, but doesn't stall, after five minutes it runs fine.
have had the injectors done, all plugs, and even the pick up in the fuel tank pulled apart and put back together, have tried disconnecting the battery over night to reset the computer.
thinking it might be the fuel pump? have removed wiring from connection at tank and cant hear pump turning off or on?????
any suggestions would be great!

if your unplugging the harness at the fuel pump... then you deffinatly will not hear it working / priming when you turn the key to ignition before start the first time.
as it has no power or signal getting to it.
so it does it hot or cold, day or night?
how long has it been doing it for?
does it feel like its 'surging' during this time?
if it does... then fuel pump is a good bet.
sorry i cant be much more help :)

i was smart enough to have the ignition turned on when i checked the harness, there is no surging, unless i put my foot to the floor, then it takes off to quick, it just goes flat, but doesn't stall.
it's been doing for about six months and slowly getting worse, mechanic assurred me it was the injectors, these were dirty, but it didnt fix the problem.
is the fuel pump within the fuel tank or external????

It's inside the tank, which can be accessed by removing the rear seat base, and the steel cover underneath it.

is the placement of the tank the same in the wagon as a sedan? or do i access it from the rear were i have previously replaced the fuel filter??
thank you.

It's different on the wagon. There's a round plate screwed to the back of the fuel tank, underneath the car, which you can pull out to access the pump and float.

Clean out the PCV valve - the little black plastic elbow on the drivers side of the front bank tappet cover. A TF PCV that hasn't been cleaned or replaced will be gunked up solid by now.

thank you to ez boy, cleaned out the pcv , got a whole lot of crap out, and made a difference straight away, a whole lot easier then replacing the fuel pump, which still wouldn't have fixed the problem!
