true but your front bumper is still gonna get chipped to buggery..
Im not a fan of the clip on headlight/bonnet protectors coz they tind to catch leaves and **** that get stuck behind them and some are that hard to get on that its a PITA taking them off to clean them and then theres the risk of breaking them..
Maybe that clear protective film might be of benefit to you as that can be applied to the front bumper/mirrors if they are painted and a strip on the bonnet and even the head lights..
its not all that expensive from memory and would offer more protection than just the bonnet protector you got..
personally, i dont like it.. i had the said clear film on my car when i got it and peeled it all off (to reveal perfectly new paint underneath) as i rarely get stone chips and id rather get my bumper resprayed once every 2 years or so if it needed it..
but if i were driving in your conditions id definatley consider it..

OK this clear plastic film stuff sounds like just what I need for my car. Where can you get it? is it a Supercheap type line?

http://www.ozicozi.com.au/index.htm would be a good place to start.
From memory, were asking around the $500 mark.

thats the stuff..
try yellow pages or something in your area because there would be mobile guys that do it (there are here) so they can come to you and put it on..
i should know how much it is because i used to order it and have it put on cars when i was workin in predelivery at the car yard i worked at but i cant for the life of me remember... i think it was around the $460 mark for a full 'nose-pack'
its come a long way from what it was a few yars back - the older stuff used to pierce easily and bubble/lift and also go yellow and shrink.. but the new stuff is tough as and doesnt deteriorate as quickly..
and best thing - when or if it does start to look shabby you just peel it off and you have new paint under neath..

i think bonnet protectors are a good idea - i would much rather that a 70dollar protector copped the scratches and chips than my bonnet, gotta be cheaper to replace (repair) than a bonnet...
same with headlight protectors - much rather they get scuffed up and scratched and broken than the headlights...
i wanna get some for my rada - but it spends a lot of time in the garage so doesnt need it that abdly really.

why not wrap your whole car in clear film so it wont damage and put mats on top of the mats to protect the mats protecting the carpet ;)
then when you sell remove all and it's as good as the day it rolled off the line!
there are people out there that crazy
or not bother it's just a machine and like all machines it can be repaired, a chip here and there wont things
my car was covered in stone chips (orig from country WA) didn't make $1 difference when i traded it

well i just found these down at kmart in the bargain bin, i havnt seen them for years and years. had them on me other cars and bikes.
priced 29 bucks reduced to clear, then a sign above it 75% off all reduced to clear stock, so i paid 6 bucks for it.
not going to put em on the car, instead going on my scooter and 2 bikes instead.
These are still freely available from HiWay trucking supplies. I use em on both my headlights and my fogs.
The film you are talking about is called Venturesheild and usually only comes in kits (there is a supplier in Sydney and another in QLD). It's about a grand to do a whole car (front third bonnet, bumper face, side skirts, rear skirts). I haven't done it (yet) as I haven't found anyone who has a Ground Effect kit pattern.
In the meantime I use a Car Bras Australia car bra. Fits like a glove, no stone chips. If you go to AMC "for sale' page you will see I have a TE/F one for sale (cheap plug, I know....)

i always have bonnet protectors cause the dealers check them in with the car. on the freeway a truck kicked up a plank of wood and shattered the protector with shards of plastic flying everywhere but the bonnet was unsratched so they are worth it. cheaper than a new bonnet + respray.
