Basically the otherday I couldnt start my TH Auto. I did the usual checks and pushed in all the fuses etc, waited 10 mins and tried again, after turning it over for about 6-10secs she fired(normally the second you turn the key it would go). We left and I realised the trip computer was flashing "S" as if it had to be reset, I set it and it worked fine. We got home and I tried to lock the car, I found the central locking wouldnt work......

So I left the car for a bit, went back to it and tried to start it again, same scenario, after 10 secs or so it fired up, and yet again the Trip computer was flashing "S" tried the central locking and it worked. Now I got really puzzled, so i tried the elec windows, yep they worked.

I then turned the key off, immediately there was no power again for the pwr windows(normally you have 14 secs to wind them up after turning the car off), central locking and even the warning buzzer for the headlights, I also noticed that the little green light on the dash that says "security" wasnt coming up either. So once again I tried to start the car, but this time i waited for 5secs in the ON position(but before the start position) then when i fired it, she started straight away(as if the fuel pump wasnt getting power, and inturn having to reprime every restart of the motor) and still the trip computer had to be reset.

Just wondering if the Magnas have a BCM like the commodores that control all the elecs in the vehicle? Maybe this could be buggered?

I'm really stumped here guys, any help, tips, comments etc welcomed and appreciated.

Regards
Luke

Magnas do have a BCM..

Whats your battery voltage like..?? Turn your headlights on and try start your car.?? if she really struggles then id say battery..

When it turned over for 6-10 seconds was it turnibg slow or like normal..??

Have you desconnected or had a flat battery recently..???

Yeah tried the battery it is in good cond, plenty of voltage, check levels regularly and looks less than 6 mths old, when its turning over it does it like normal sounds strong.

Nah no flat or disconnected battery recently.

Could be a BCM issue but i dont know anything about them really cept they controll all that stuff. i know a new one is real expesive..:( Id prob find another magna owner that would help you and swap BCMs over if it is possible and see if thats it. I do have a feeling they need programming to the car though..

Maybe u need to try a simple step first like reset or disconnect battery over nite..:)

Prob worth removing terminals and cleaning them up and reconnecting them. could be bad contact.

Check your IOD fuses in the engine bay (the ones in the plastic yellow thing). Most likely blown

yep i seen them but buggered if i could remove em, they looked ok, but need to get em out to take a better look.

Hoping this or a ECU reset will fix it, otherwise off to mitsu she goes......

Thanks guys.

They are hard to get out. Try some long nose pliers and get the fuses out individually. Dont try and pull the whole thing out.

About 90% chance one of these will be your problem. They control central door locking, radio, interior light, memory for the trip meter, power windows and some other stuff.

Total legend, all fixed it was the blue 15amp one. Saved me a whole lot of $$$ trying to work it out, I owe you a beer man.
