i wanna change the front and rear brake pads in my TJ with abs.
i've never changed the brakes in a car with abs, and i'm wondering is there anything that i have to look out for or do differently?

nothing special needed to do with cars with abs just pop the wheel off unbolt the caliper use a g clamp with the old pad still on the piston to push it back into the bore, place in new pads rebolt and once you have done the fronts reprime them by pushing on the pedal 6 or so times and its the same for the rear. With this method do one caliper at a time or else you can push the piston out of the bore on the opposite piston

not really. just follow the steps in the service manual.

Take the wheel off, open up the brake fluid reservoir in the engine bay. Undo the bolt/bin for the caliper and swing the caliper out. Take the old pads out. Using a small G clamp or something similar, compress the piston to allow room for the beefier new pads. Insert the new pads, swing back in place and tighten up the bolt/pin. Replace cover for the reservoir. Start the car and pump the pedal a few times, and there u have it.

flush your brake fluid too whilst you're at it... change every 2yrs Mitsu recommends

only difference with ABS is DON'T LET BUBBLES INTO THE SYSTEM :D
they can be a real bitch to de-bubble-ise if filling from scratch,
but average joe wouldn't need to ever do that

cool no worries, when the weather cools down i'll give it a shot, cause screw paying $260 for an apprentice to do it, when i can do it for $100.
just never done abs brakes before so just needed to double check.

Chamfer the edges of the pads before fitting them if you're not changing the discs - that way your brakes won't squeal when you first put them in.

be sure when you are pushing the piston back in leave that pad in so you dont damage the piston/seal.

With ABS you have to bleed the system with the engine running, and the bleed order is Passenger Rear, Driver Front, Driver Rear and lastly Passenger Front - details which are somewhat different than a NON ABS car.
