Hey,

Drove from Melbourne to Yarrawonga on Saturday in 40 degree heat, a carload of people camping gear and an energetic dog and I'm happy to report that the Verada held its own, didn't move a millimeter over half on the temp guage despite spending much of the trip idling on the side of the road with the A/C flat-out waiting for the 2nd car in our convoy of 2 (a bloody Ford!!) to cool down (then turning around at Molesworth and ferrying the Fords passengers and luggage back home because the "Big Aussie 6" cracked a head and had to be towed back to Melbourne, hehe!!)

The one minor issue I had on the first semi-long trip it's had since the big auction was that part of the plastic body kit seems to have come a-drift somewhere along the way - see pic below - and the ba*tard is color-coded so I can't just go and buy a new one. I don't suppose anyone would know where I could get another one in the right color without having to have one sprayed? I'm assuming its only a Verada part because the Magna's I've seen are all grey not painted. I can have a grey one sprayed, but I've been told by the panel beater that the color, cocoon white (or metallic primer grey if you let the critics bother you) is a 3-layer color (color-pearl-clear) and would cost a couple of hundred bucks - only had one "quote" and the guy didn't seem too interested in helping me - to match it. If I could get one off a Cocoon White one that'd be heaps easier

couple of hundred bucks?? jees thats front bar cost! i'd say ask around and just see about the cost, most places probably just wont want to make up that small amount of paint to do that part. check wreckers for it :)

PS 380 clear side indicators while ur at it ;)

Yep, would do that no trouble......but not many cocoon white verada/sports around the place.

Yeah SpackBace I know thats a rip-off, thats why I don't want to go that way. I will try other panel beaters though, see how I go. I think you're right, the first guy just didn't seem interested in such a pissy little job.

Whack your paint code up and we'll see how many people have the time to ring their local wrecker to ask if they've got any 'cocoon white' wrecks.:)

Oi, Spacky, that's my line.lol

You could try http://www.partsonline.com.au/ or a similar site. They send your request to hundreds of wreckers and the wrecker will email you if they have the part with a price including delivery.

Hey, just my $0.02 worth......

What I'd do is :

1. Go to a wreckers and find that little plastic body mould that you require. If you can find ANY TE-TJ or KE-KJ, it will fit. Obviously the standard models are not colour-coded, but that is no issue.

2. Go to AutoBarn or a similar car-stuff shop, quote your paint code (found on the compliance plate in engine bay) and get them to make up a small spray-can for you on the spot. These shops should have a paint mixing booth in the shop itself, and a small spray-can shouldn't cost you any more than $15-$20.

3. Get some plastic primer, available off-the-shelf in the shop. About $10

4. Go home, wipe down the plastic trim thoroughly with metho or turps, then carefully & lightly spray on the plastic primer.

5. Put on a few light coats of the spray-can paint.

I was told that the paint color (KA - Cocoon White) couldn't be made in a spray can because it was a 3-stage paint process with a base coat, metallic/pearl then a clear coat. This was from a paint place, but I will try Autobarn and see what they've got to say. I tried "Parts Online" last week, I will wait and see how that goes. Thanks.
