It's probably Automatic Transmission or Automatic Transaxle.

I reckon verada beast is on the money, probably automatic transmission mode.

Its in the manual, sharpens up throttle response by changing gears at higher revs. Its worse for your economy, thats about it.

*Edit, out of the manual:

I figured it mean all terrain mode.

It probably did something worth while in the AWD sigmas, MMAL probably just used it to save costs.

Pretty sure it was always there to do what it does, switch between Economy and Power, the difference may have just been greater in the 4WD models, not a different function though.

According to a few places it means "All Terrain mode" as suggested, not sure how that plays out on a FWD unless they decided to keep it because if it's effects on power and economy. Haven't used it enough to see the effects for myself, all it used to do was cause the engine to seize (but that was corrected after the transmission repairs) :P

I'd ask Mitsu directly but it'll take about a week to get an answer.

Agreed, what kinda of auto shifts into 2nd when you are flooring it well before 5000rpm. And then if you drive it moderately softly, will refuse to dropdown to 1st from around 30kmh.

I keep it in "pwr" mode nearly all the time. Probably explains my fuel consumption
