My 3 litre TF magna engine recently did a main rear oil seal. Engine had done 300,00 klms so did a 3.5 litre conversion. Got the engine second hand from a wreckers, had only done 116,000. He said the engone was from a TK magna. Never heard of a TK. Anyone else? It has a vin number beginning with 6g74m.

He most likely meant to say TJ or even TL as there is no such thing as a TK magna!!!

On the VIN plate they state "MITSUBISHI T/K" on the later Magnas (TF or TH onward, not sure). This means that it is the chassis for a T = Magna K = Verada.
On my old KE it had "MITSUBISHI TE/KE"
But if a wrecker doesnt know this then Id be worried about anything they sold me.....
Also the VIN should start with 6MMKExxxxxxxx if its a KE, 6MMTF if its a TF etc, so the 6G74 bit is actually the engine number Id imagine......

6G74 isnt even an engine number if i remember correctly. its some mitsubishi engine code, but its not the engine number for the rta (correct if wrong)
but yes, gas-heds right. vin/chassis numbs start with 6MM___

6G74 is Mitsubishi's code for the engine type, just like the 12 and 24 valve 3L was the 6G72.
