yes i have had the same problem before
is it the alternator belt tensioner or the air conditioner
both are a sealed bearing
how much deflection have you left on the belts
wait till the bearings wear in a bit at least you know it wont sieze

Thanks for your reply belt deflection is about 12mm.

doesnt mean anything to me but thats what the book says the belt deflection should be
must be a measuring device for it
can anyone make this info into something simple ?
Drive belt tension (4 cylinder models)
Alternator and power steering - New belt . . . . . . . ,650 N
- Used belt . . . . . . ,530 N
Air-conditioning - New belt . . . . . . . ,440-540 N
- Used belt . . . . . . .340-440 N
Drive belt tension (6 cylinder models)
Alternator and power steering - New belt . . . . . . . ,690-880 N
- Used belt . . . . . . ,490 N
Air-conditioning - New belt . . . . . . . ,590-690 N
- Used belt . . . . . . .390-490 N
Water pump belt deflection (4 cylinder models only)5-7 mm with 70 N force

All that means is the amount of force it takes to get the belt to deflect, ie. 650N of force to deflect a new belt, cause it's still nice and stiff, whereas a softer, used belt will only need 530N of force to deflect. I think.

Are you sure the noise isnt timing belt/water pump related? Check this first.

mate, remove the 2 belts, start it and run it and see if the noise is there. Water pump is cam belt driven so will not harm anything.
If is there may be water pump or the Idler for the timing belt.
If is gone, may also be the air con compressor clutch, is common on all cars.
